Sonny, the big python, woke me up at midnight pounding on his vivarium glass-seems that the darling Ethyl had just shed and that is like snake aphrodisiac, and Sonny, being male, didn't realize she's too young and the wrong species.  I gave him a warm wet towel (that sometime calms them down and it looked like he needed to shed too).

At 6 am there arose such an awful clatter-Sonny had opened his glass, escaped and was busy rearranging a snake rack from the inside out.  He was looking for his woman!  He's a strong fellow, but I finally got him out of his predicament and into another, more secure rack.  I just checked on him-he's curled in a ball and sulking. It must be a guy thing.

Sonny is usually pretty passive-as in he rarely moves around so moving across the room was a big thing for him-ah, the things we do for love!

(Come on, did you really think I was going to tell a story about myself?  Puhlease)

I'm sorry Deb, I know you love your reptiles and you know I love you....but I simply do not know how in the world you can sleep KNOWING there are snakes in your house. I'd never sleep again! But i'm petrified of snakes! To each her own I guess

Well, they usually aren't loose.  But I think I'm a pretty responsible keeper, and I have an escape every so often, so the room they are in is also sealed (no attic access or holes in the wall etc). as a precaution.  None of mine are venomous and none are big enough to eat me, so I don't worry.  Venom would add a whole new twist that I'm not even thinking about trying, but like you, I try to say to each their own (but not for me thank you).
