God Bless America

I really enjoyed watching today's festivities. I thought our country was well represented. I watched part of it with my parents, and we were able to put political differences aside (and this has taken us two years of hard work on both parts) and just enjoy the spectacle.
Now is the time for us all to work together. I think that the fellowship we share on this forum, each helping the other along in our common goal towards health, is a good model. Maybe the rest of the country should log in and see how we do it here on the OK forum.
Aretha's hat was awesome-and she can still sing. And in the midst of all that I was thinking "she struggles with her weight too....."LOL, it's never far from my mind.
Deb I was able to listen to most of the activities on my computer here at work. I was able to see Aretha's "hat" and hear her sing...gave me goose bumps. I know that not all of us voted for President Obahama but now that he is our President we have a duty and obligation to support and pray for him as leader of our country. I just pray that he has wisdom and makes awesome choices and that we see our Nation step up to the plate and be all that we can be!!
It is the same in this weight loss process. We have to be willing to change ,in order to change our lives. We can not go back to eating the way we were, or we will be right back where we were. I have made that decision and change is going to come!!
I look forward to all the new things this new President is going to do to help change this country. I pray for his safety in his term in office and for the backing of this Nation. I am so proud of this Country and those who serve it.

That's an interesting take on change-yes, we must change or we will end up back in the same place we were.
They just announced that Kennedy collapsed and had to be take away. I was worried about him out in the cold (and for several other of the senior members of today's events). My prayers go out for that old warrior, who I don't always agree with, but would wish no harm to.
I feel very lucky to live in a country where political and religious differences can be discussed freely, without fear of harm. I think I too often take that for granted. A blogger friend of mine in Iran has had to "underground"-and she was very cir****pect in sharing her thoughts and feelings-but anything deemed not supportive to the current government is deemed subversive, and the consequences can be dire. I know she is with me in spirit today, sharing this wonderful day of freedom.
On another note....there is a Boy Scout troop from our school who were invited to march in the parade today. They held so many fund raisers, it took over $100,000 for them and their sponsors to go to Washington, D.C. and stay. They had made arrangements to tour the White House months ago, were planning to participate in a ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Yesterday afternoon, they were informed that their tour of the White House had been cancelled, AND they couldn't walk in the parade due to heightened security. They were so disappointed, and I feel so bad for them. They did get to participate in the hanging of the wreath at the Tomb, but their parade plans and tour plans were all cancelled. Those boys worked so hard to get there, and it's wonderful that they were privileged to witness the ceremony, but talk about some disappointed young men. I felt so badly for them.
Marsha
Man Marsha, that does suck. Poor guys!
I too enjoyed the festivities. I had DVR'd them so I could fast forward thru the commercials. Although I don't agree with all of his plans, I am so awed of the man himself. I cannot imagine the monumental job he has taken on.
Oh, and Aretha did have a great hat on!
