OT-What is it with Mondays?
on 1/19/09 2:59 am
I try to lay low on Mondays-save fairly easy tasks so that I can feel like I accomplished something at the end of the day and keep it as stress free as possible. Today I decided to clean cages, bath birds......bath dogs....and Sonny, the big python's cage needed an overhaul. Sonny is an amiable guy, not too fond of change but I just stick him in holding tank, do what I need to do and put him back. Not a high degree of difficulty.
Except, this morning, as I was gently pulling Sonny out his liar, the cat, annoyed at all this other than cat activity, jumped into Sonny's Vivarium. (Sonny weighs probably at least 35 pounds). Face to face with Sonny, the Cat hissed, Sonny hissed and I jumped (but kept ahold of the snake) and managed to use a foot to push the cat out of the way. (You try balancing on one foot with a 35 pound snake in your hand and kick a cat out of a viv without breaking glass, your leg or your cat-it's not easy).
Now Sunny is in his holding tank and the cat is stomping around still annoyed that the attention is not on her. I am having a cup of decaf whilst I regain my composure.....Only on a Monday.....
What exciting things happened to you today?

I have to be completely honest-having said what I've said about big birds, I'd be lost without my buddy Oliver. He pretty much keeps up running commentary on the day's activities for the entire household and is quick to point out any infractions (except for his own).
Nothing is sacred-during a stomach flu he mimiced the sound of puking then would laugh like a crazy person. Right now he's singing operatic scales and saying "Rastah......" at full volume. I enjoy the noise, but it probably wouldn't do for an apartment. (I did have a ****atoo in an apartment one time-and he was a shrieker....)
Edit: Today's infractions for Oliver include 1. tossing a pie tin full of water on the cat (his bathwater) and laughing crazily-THAT was good fun 2. Going over to the cabinet to get a scrub brush attachment from my new electric scrub brush and dismantling it 3. Throwing a grape tomato under my foot so I'd cru**** and laughing when I slipped 4. biting and clicking his beak at the nozzle when he was getting his spray bath
And that is a pretty typical day and we are only half done.
Mondays was the day all horses were brushed and UH how do I say this...the males hangers were cleaned if they were cut...not a pleasant task..tcleaned their teeth and I would break down half of the stalls to bare ground and re saw dust them if I had colts then I would have to put straw in them....
Any who exciting thing that happened to me today..getting up before sunrise...calling my bf in SC and waking him up singing good morning sunshine..he was not to happy about it
