I'm from a tiny little town about 45 mi. east of Shreveport called Sibley.  I moved away when I was about 30. My folks were there their whole lives and I still have a sister in the area.  :)

Karen!!!!!  Oh MY GOSH!!!  You look amazing!!!!!  Wow! You look like 10 years younger!!  Is that a picture of your daughter??!!!  LOL!  Love the new avatar.  Thanks for the encouragement.  You are not making excuses, I know the drill.  I do the same thing, race home, dinner, clean up, homework, bath, bed, and then somehow carve out time for me to do my homework.  ARGGHH! I know tomorrow morning will be a struggle to get out of bed and actually out of the house at that ungodly hour. But, now that I have told the world I am doing it...well I just have to follow through because my pride won't let me not follow through! LOL!

Awwwwwww Amy... you made my day.  You are really a sweetheart.  Since we are sleeve sisters, we have to meet in person one day!!  I love seeing all of the folks from Louisiana on this board.  That is so awesome.  I am in Alexandria, btw. :-)

I am going to take a suggestion that someone posted to this board under you... saying that they do crock pot meals and left overs on the day that they go to the gym.  I think my mind says I must go 5 days per week... as in Mon, Tues and Wednesday but I am sitting here thinking... I could go 3 days during the work week and on Sat and Sun.  I might have just figured out HOW I can really get to the gym!!

I had a consultation on Monday for a breast reduction.  The doctor told me... you HAVE to be tired of dragging those things around!  Well yeah... BIG time! :-)   Anyway... he is trying to get approval from my insurance company so that they will pay for the reduction so I am praying that they say yes! :-)  He said it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks again for all of them compliments and replies to my post.  Ya'll are a great group! :-)

Karen,
I found a gym  that has Water Aerobic classes at 5:45 pm.   I go straight from work to the gym, 3 nights a week and then on Saturday morning.  Monday night is crock pot dinner, Tuesday night is leftovers from the weekend and Thursday night, you are on your own or Monday leftovers.  Of course, my son is 18 so that helps out.

I found that I just have to DO IT.  It also is a great help to have an accountability partner.  I meet a friend there so it's also some time for socializing.

Good luck,
Lori

Amy, I was you a couple of years ago.  I did join a gym before I had wls and when I thought I could do this on my own.  I was huge but I went in there.  I kept my head down and didn't make eye contact.  (In fact, I'm still pretty bad about that.)  And I avoid the work out rooms where they are doing aerobics, step aerobics and all that other crazy stuff.  I figure I could never keep up.

But you know what?  We should be applauded that we are there.  That we are doing something about it rather than sitting on our couches eating bon-bons!  Are there some people looking at me and judging me.  I'm certain of it.  Do I care?  No, not really.  If it wasn't me, it would be someone else who had too many zits, or wore the wrong clothes, or had a bad haircut.  People are people and they can be mean.

Hold your head up, be proud of your accomplishments and act like you own the joint.  If you carry yourself with confidence, that is all everyone will see.

And, yes, I can hold you accountable.  I'm really good at that kind of stuff.  (see scale challenge - for all the good it did me with you!  LOL!)

I will warn you that you may show a bit of a gain when you first start working out.  This will be due to water retention and also that muscle weighs more than fat.  But you aren't gaining actual weight so don't freak.  I could say just to stay off the scales for a week but I don't think you're capable!  Tee!  Hee!

Love you gal - you can do this and you are so worth it!

You crack me up!  Of course I have to hold my head high because if I don't you see like three chins with all the neck flab!! LOL!  I know I need to not weigh.  I gave in by convincing myself that I needed to see where I was at before working out.  So...I don't know if I can honestly stay off for a month but I am committed to waiting until next Monday to weigh.

I might just bring my tunes and have a little pep in my step while my belly skin waves up and down at everyone! LOL!

Belly waves, huh?  Wow!  Nice visual I just got of my tummy.  That's the stuff of nightmares!  Ha!

Maybe that's why I have such bad turkey neck!  I should look up more!
