Protein Bars
Good evening friends! Do any of you eat protein bars? If so, what kinds? I enjoyed them prior to surgery, but don't know if I'm really suppose to have them now or not. I have been having a protein drin****asionally. I think the bars would be something I would eat for breakfast, since I'm not a breakfast eater. After the scrambled egg issue I had during my stricture days, I don't care if I ever see a scrambled egg again. LOL
Thanks!
Hugs,
Marsha

I have never really been able to eat those bad boys. They just taste wrong to me! I'll be interested if anyone chimes in here with a new one I can try. I'm with you in that it would be an easy breakfast and I really don't like breakfast.
I will say that at the support group meeting last night, 2 kinds of protein bars were mentioned. LakeGirl likes to eat a South Beach Bar for breakfast. And Winnebago eats one that he says tastes just like a Snickers bar. (I'm reserving judgement on that one!!) I just can't remember what the heck the name of it was. Maybe Pure Protein? Maybe he'll fire up his computer and be online soon and can tell you.
I know that WeightWise usually says they want you to get your protein from "real" food. But I think a protein bar should qualify!

Oh, I loved Detour before surgery. I have not had any protein bars since surgery. I'm afraid they will be too heavy and dense for my pouch. And, for some reason, I was thinking that they might be too sugary for after surgery, but it has been awhile since I looked at the label so I could be wrong on that...
Hi, Marsha.
I try to keep a box of protein bars on hand, mainly for when I'm going out of town for the day...just in case.
I like the Proti-15 squares, vanilla. Wt. Wise carries them, but I think they're called something else (Wt. Wise, perhaps?). Anyway, they're the best I've tasted so far, but everyone's taste is different. They're pretty pricey at W.W., a *****eaper on the web. Here's the web site: http://www.smartforme.com/bari-15wafersnacks.aspx
Blessings,

I like muscle milk light-but I wish they'd come up with one you could leave in the car and not have it get all melty. The best I can do is leave almonds in the car all the time.
I like jay robb bars, they are made with "real food", nuts and such, but at 3 bucks a pop, they are a rare treat.
