I agree Deb, we are a diversified group and that is what makes us all so great!
I can totally see breaking a bit here or there....I think anyone could. It's that fear subject from the Doctors that YOU CAN NEVER HAVE BREAD, RICE, PASTA, OR SODA AGAIN, that can scare you into submission!  I honestly think that the whole subject can be controversial.
Being diabetic, I have to be low carb, but I am allowed a certain amount with each meal....I have loved many of T.s low carb dishes. It helps to have a great variety of choices. Right now I can have anything as long as it is  within my allowed count. That doesn't mean they are all good for me! If I do mess up, I have consequenses to pay by a spike in sugar levels. I have to stick to a plan that is well balanced to feel ok. Though a test strip will say I am in Ketosis...It is purple because my sugar is high....I know that afterwards some of this will change, but all in all like Debbie said....Healthy is the most important goal to reach for and that is all I am working towards!

remember......Ketosis and diabetic ketoacidosis are two very different things. It sounds (?) as if it is was diabetic ketoacidosis that is referred to here:

I have 2 insulin dependant children who were diagnosed at 11 years old.  I didn't get full blown diabetes until about 2 years ago.  They will NEVER be able to kick their disease because it is type 1 and their pancreas died and they make no insulin.  The ketosis did almost kill my daughter twice.  While in ketosis she drops all kinds of weight (she liked that part) but becomes so very very very sick.

Insulin dependent patients(type 1) whose blood sugars are too high "go into" diabetic ketoacidosis. This can be due to lack of insulin or ingestion of a very high sugar food(s), or illness. This type of ketosis is deadly if not treated. And, yes, insulin depedent diabetics(type 1) who do not take the prescribed insulin...or have had a bad bout of DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) WILL lose weight....due to the blood sugar cannot get into the cells without insulin to unlock the receptors....

Ketosis in a healthy (non-diabetic) person is totally different than what a type 1 diabetic may experience.

Having said the above....of course, a well balanced diet is what is best for us.
