Fiber supplments for the post-op folks
OK, I have a question. I'm a big believer in taking a fiber supplement. I usually chew 2 of the Fiber Choice chewables a day. It just keeps things working better and I like to let nature take its course. The NUT tells me I can't have it post-op
So now my question is can I take some sort of fiber supplement post-op? If some of you are taking them, what do you take? I'm not a big veggie eater but I still want to be sure I get at least a little fiber every day.
Thanks!

Jay,
I think the folks at WW recommended Miralax to me at the time of surgery. It seems to be fine, and with all the water I go through in a day, I just mix it in there somewhere if I need it. I have also taken Colace capsules occasionally....
My general experience has been that as long as you keep your water intake up the problems are fairly rare. Your mileage may vary - everyone's anatomy seems to move at it's own pace....
Be sure to ask the folks at WW what you should do. As I recall the thought was that the fiber would expand and your new stomach wouldn't appreciate it much...

Winne,
YES YOU CAN! You can have something called Aloha-nu coconut fiber. SUPER healthy for you also flax-z-snax hot cereal (tastes like oatmeal only better when you fix it the way that I found) both have awesome health benefits. Googl coconut fiber benefits and you'll see. Let me know if you're interested and I'll give you the links where I buy it.

Thomas,
I have some of the Flax Z Snax cereal... How do you prepare it? I bought the strawberries n cream flavor. I think I put just a bit of butter (real butter) in it, some fresh (frozen) strawberries, splenda and just a touch of dairy ease (lactose free fat free milk)
I don't think I had the consistency right or something... only tried it that one time and it was tolerable...
Is that what you do?

Dot,
I put a little less water in it. i put some coconut fiber in it (optional). I then add only cream in it (just a splash will do ya...but it needs to be the real stuff), a pat of butter and yes real butter is great, fresh strawberries mushed up with a fork or pureed in the blender (never frozen) and as much splenda as you want since tey have splenda now with 1 gram of protein per pack to outweigh the carb load so eat as muh as you want to sweeten it properly.
The cream is a key ingredient and the freshness of strawberries. lemme know if that makes the difference for you!
