Do you want the official answer to the question or the one that I chose for myself??
OK, the official position is never. Popcorn is carbs and therefore evil.
My personal decision- I waited until I was almost 6 months out and chose to have popcorn occasionally. Be careful though- it goes down really easily and it is easy to have WAY too many carbs.
You choice as to what you do. Just remember that Dr B will not be happy if you choose to eat popcorn.

First congratulations on the weight loss. On the popcorn I still haven't had any and i love it... I figured it doesn't offer any real nutritional value for me and would be a wasted meal so why bother not that i haven't been tempted. As far as how long you have to wait don't have a clue...Remember your tummy is sensitive so be gentle with it and popcorn may be rough on it.....
hope your nausouness go away soon and good luck!!!!!!!!!

Hi, Candee.
The other night, my husband made some microwave popcorn ("lite," of course). It smelled so good! I asked for ONE, ate it, chewing well, swallowed, and OH MY, it was SO not worth it! I had pain, big time! Now, maybe that wouldn't happen with you, but I just wanted you to know about my experience.
Blessings,
Mary

Happycat is right, unfortunately! I waited until 6 months post-op as I was told. But WeightWise docs don't want you to eat it since it's really just recreational and no nutritional value. Now do I think it would be terrible to eat some 94% fat free popcorn? No, but I would make it an occassional treat rather than a daily thing.
Candee I am an RNYer so maybe what my opinion is wont matter much any who here goes it.
popcorn has no true nutritional value...it is used by some dieters as a fuller.
If you are craving the flavor...then try Chesters puff air treat...it looks like popcorn tastes like it but you dont have to worry about the kernal getting stuck..
I love popcorn but I gave that up when I decided to have WLS. To me certain foods are worth not having to be healthy again
