Calling all WW Sleeve people

Does WW do a test after surgery to check for leaks? I've read that some places use dyes and such to make sure nothing has sprung a leak.

Thank you.

Jerri:

Welcome to our little corner of OH!

Although I am not a sleeve patient I will answer this one - YES!  All WLS procedures have leak tests at WW - I would hope everywhere actually!  WW does theirs while you are still in the operating room so you don't know it is even happening.  Unless there is a reason to believe otherwise - this is normally the only leak test done - if they need to do another for whatever reason they can do those in the Radiology department - which the original protocol called for - prior to departing the hospital.  Things have changed a little since my surgery over 2.5 years ago though! lol..just a few anyway!

You are in the greatest hands with WW - Dr W and Dr B are awesome and there are a lot of us here on the OK forum to help you through!  Welcome!!

Hi, Ruth.
I didn't know about this! Wow! How is the leak test done, in the operating room? I know I asked about the leak test, as I was waiting for my husband to bring the car around, so we could head home, and the gal didn't know what I was talking about. Thanks for the info.
Blessings,
Mary

Ruth is right.  They do the leak test in the OR by shooting blue dye into your tummy to see if any leaks out.  That's usually the end of it unless they have reason to believe that you have a leak but that is extremely rare at WeightWise cuz they da best!

Hi Jerri!
This is a very VERY smart question to be asking on the forum. I'm proud to say the answers posted are correct. WW is incredibly thorough and both surgeons are the best of the best. Keep on asking questions because a lot of experienced eyes read this forum.  I asked a ton of questions before my sleeve. I am glad I did because it made me relax and probably heal faster. Can't prove that...just my opinion.LOL! By the way...having WLS was the greatest bestest wonderfulest decision of my life. I am wishing that it will be for you too. ~Lisa~

Thank you guys. I'm so happy to have the forum to ask questions. I know the doctors welcome questions but it's not as easy to ask them!
