Scale Slaves Stop!!!!!

How many out there are still slaves to the scale?  Daily?  Come on, that's enough to drive anyone nuts.  Part of what I wanted to accomplish with this surgery was to break my obsession with the scale and it's been a tough one.  In the past year and a half I've probably weighed less than 25 times.  Even when I was doing "challenges" on the lap band board I only weighed weekly, and when that got to be an issue, I stopped and went back to my "at the doctor only" rule.

For me, there is a sicko relationship between the scale, food and me.  I could spend a lifetime trying to figure it out, or I could just break the cycle.  If the idea of not weighing every day frightens you, you might want to spend some time thinking about that.  "Keeps me accountable" is just another way to justify your habit.  The REAL accountant is the size of your bum-no matter what the number on the scale says.

And, if you think you are just doing it because it's a habit and you can give it up any time-I'd challenge you to give up daily weighing for a month.  If you find you can't, then you might want to spend some time thinking about that.

I weigh several times a week, I think simply because I can't believe it.  Some days I get up and look at myself in the mirror and can't believe I have lost this much weight, so I get on the scale and just have to make sure this isn't a dream.  But I guess some people are obsessed with the number on the scale.  I don't think I have that problem but time will tell.  Rosielocks

Debra, I am a slave to the scale.  I weigh every morning so I can post it on my tracker system along with my diet plan.  So i too am a sicko closet weight scale-aholic.  I can't judge by the size of my bum because my bum is't there anymore .....   sadness...it' like my hair...but hey, I'm doing good....

I think though that I would be willing to take myself off the scale for a month to see how it impacts the rest of what i track...  Remind me in a month and I'll post my results and stuff.

What I really wanted to post was, "Well, why don't you come over here and make me get of the scales??"

But after another disappointing trip to the scales in the garage this moring, I accept your challenge!  I will NOT weigh again for one month from today which will, ironically, be my birthday, Feburary 9.

You better hound me and make sure I'm not cheating though.  I have been known to make a promise not to weigh and then cheat!  (right Amy?)  So help keep me accountable.  It seems like it was meant to be since one month from now is my birthday.  Seems like a good target day to weigh.

I'm breaking out in a cold sweat thinking about not weighing for a month....think that means I have a problem?

Before WLS I might have weighed every 2 or 3 weeks.  Since then, it's become more and more often.

Thanks for the thought provoking idea.....

I'll take you up on your challenge Deb.  I'm a scale slave as well.  After avoiding them for a million years I like seeing it go down.  I want to loose 10 more pounds before I go back to the doctor and so I've been obsessing with that...who care if I loose it or not as long as I'm taking care of business it will come, right??  Mine will get put up...I'll have my DH hide them!!!  Feb 9th with be my big reveal day!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!
