I really have no problem fixing meals for my family.  This morning after DH took kiddos to school, he came home and I fixed a nice breakfast for him.  I sat at the breakfast table while he ate and had conversation with him.  It didn't phase me at all to sit and watch him eat breakfast.  Last night, I decided to bake chocalate chip cookies for the kids.  I have been watching all sorts of food channels, and I have the desire to create new healthy dishes but have no desire to eat them?  Is that okay?  I am on the soft food now, and I could careless.  I told DH this morning, that I could careless about food.  I don't have a desire to eat and care about eating.  I am just content getting my liquids in.  I know everyone is like FOOD!!! when they come off the 2 week liquid diet, but not me.. Who cares???  Is that normal, should I make myself eat?  I guess at this point, I would be okay living off liquids for a long time..

Hopefully my appetite will come back some day.

Thanks,
Sheila

Yup, normal, I think!  And I also think your appetite will return somewhat but it will never be like it was before.  When I was at your stage, food had no control or hold over me at all and it was a beautiful feeling.  I still am nothing like the "old" me and don't think I ever will be again.  Yay!  But I do have to fight the head hunger stuff now at 7 months out.

Think of the weight you'll lose!!!  Just don't let yourself dehydrate and you should be fine!

Sheila it is really funny that you brought this up i too wondered at a point if something was wrong with me. I have never been a breakfast person but I loved going to the cafe and having coffee with the people I have known for years and when i was able to get out on my own i would go have a glass of water just so I could be among adults and see what was going on and everyone knew I had the surgery and were freaking out about how could I stand to be in the resturant and not want to eat. I think it had alot to do with me never eating when there anyway but I still dont have to eat if I see someone else eating.

I am content with the food I can eat and if I am busy I sometimes forget to eat. Before there was NO way I would forget about food! It also does not bother me to have others eating in front of me, although it often overwhelms me to see people eating so much.

Sheila, believe it or not, you are NORMAL. Take advantage of this time while you can ,because believe me there will come a time when you will want some of your favorite foods again. Unfortunately we didn't have surgery on our brains. just or stomach. Best of luck and just be sure and get your liquids and protein in daily. Rita

Thanks everyone for chiming in.  I am enjoying the "smell of food"  that is really cool.. Before, I would be starvin at a resturaunt or anyplace, home and eat anything and everything just to get to feel a satisfaction.  But now, I can bake cookies and enjoy the smell and not have to take a bite.. I love this "honeymoon stage"..LOL..

Okay, off to get the kids ready for school..

Heya Sheila,  I was the same way for the longest of times, and then my appetite started to come back.  I would actually not care whether I would eat or not, then suddenly outta nowhere my appetite grew over night....so it will come back and you will get hungry again, but it's not bad to have it back since you still have the control over how much you eat and the quality of stuff you want.  long term portion control is what I find myself struggling with.  i have a lot of will power but sometimes I might eat without thinking of when to stop regardless of how healthy it is...

The girls, glitter, happycat, Rita, and Ruth told me if I didn't eat they would apply the belt to my backside, so when they speak, I try to listen...  I knew i needed to eat and it was a very healthy thing that got my eating schedule back on track.

Sheila...you're right on the money!!  I still pretty much have no interest in food.  I consider it a real blessing for me though.  I eat as Glitter says "for fuel" and not entertainment.  When my husband wants to go out for dinner I don't want to go for the food...just company and I'll eat a little of what I need from his plate!  Just remember to not skip meals...at least your protein and water.  You need regular "fuel"!!!  You're doing awesome!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!
