I've lost a gear...
Hello all,
I wanted to put this out there and see if anyone has a similar issue.... As of this morning, I've lost a total of 148 pounds - exactly 100 since my VSG on 5/5/08, and of course, I'm absolutely thrilled with that BUT... (Isn't there always a but?)
I also seem to have lost my fifth gear. What I mean is that now, at the end of the day (10:00 PM or after) I am completely wiped out and literally unable to summon up the energy to take on another task - regardless of what it may be or how badly I need to get it done. It's just kind of a new feeling of tired that I don't really recall having a year ago. It used to be that I would get tired, but could always dig a little deeper and push on through whatever needed to be done at the end of the day.
Anybody else had a simliar situation and (hopefully) found a quick, easy solution? It's not disabling or anything, just a bit disconcerting to be soooo wiped out at the end of the day.
Any ideas will be gratefully appreciated!
Thanks,
John

I'm right there with you. I thought it might be the time change...it gets dark so darn early. It seems with me if it is dark my body says ok...time to shut down. I have been going to bed around 9:30 and sometimes 9:00 but I do get up at 4:45 each morning. I go hard all day and then do exercise or physical therapy right after work, do some laundry/housework, do dinner, clean up, watch a little TV and I'm tired. I don't think it's that unusual. I do have more energy during the daytime while I'm at work or on the weekends. I do make it until about 10:00 or 10:30 some nights but that's really late for me these days!!! Yes, there is always a but...butt!!!
What I have noticed is that I am more active during the day and I am ready for bed between 10 and 10:30 - in the past, I was able to stay up until nearly midnite. I think it is because we move so much more now and even though it seems effortless, at the end of the day we feel it. I also get up before five and I get up with a lot of energy, in fact, I do two miles on the treadmill every morning....however, I find myself less inspired to do that in the evening..
Thanks Fleemore!!! As far as the exercise in the morning. one day I just decided to try, having no idea that I would be able to do it. After I was done, I felt ten times better than any other day that week, so that work-out gave me even more energy....now, if I skip, the day drags and I also eat better on the days that I do the a.m. work-out.....I guess it just sets the day for me. I figured we really don't know we can't until we try...

Maybe your new, healthier body is wanting a new healthier amount of sleep. There is a correlation between sleep deprivation and obesity, maybe the same is true of health-we need an adequate amount of sleep to keep going. I'd rather sleep more and function better when I'm awake-but this time of year I always get a lot of sleep.
