OT: Stupid Parent!

My son is a Sr in High School.  We just moved into the Mustang district  from out of state last year but he's done great with the adjustment.  Soccer started with 2 a week practices in Dec and went to daily this week. He's probably going to be the starting varsity goalie and one of the team captains this year.

So, on to the story.

He along with 4 other varsity Sr. players got into a verbal altercation with a freshman player in the locker room.  Several of the boys came over to the house after practice (we are 2 blocks from the soccer field) and were telling me about this stupid freshman that flipped them off and tried to fight them.  About this time, a car pulls up in front of my house.  Out come 5 boys with belts and chains.  One of the boys says, that's the kid and he brought help.  Of course, I dial 911 and ORDER the kids to stay inside.  A neighbor was just coming home so he walks over as I go outside.  About this time, the MOM gets out of the car.  Yes, the mother brought these kids to my house so they could fight.  OMG, I am floored.  I can't even put into words how amazed I am.

Long story short, police cars came as they were roaring off.  I ended up calling the police AGAIN because THE MOTHER along with the kids, kept driving by my house, stopping in front, honking and throwing things out onto the lawn.

A police car parked in front of my house most of the night.  This family is "known" to the local police department and they are taking it very seriously.

Is it any wonder that kids behave this way when parents approve?

A restraining order against the Mom would allow the police to arrest her if she did that again.

That is a great idea and one I hadn't even thought of.  I'm installing a security camera in the driveway this weekend so any incidents will be on tape.  I'm going to check into the restraining order.

Thanks again,
Lori

I am so sorry you have to go through this.  Unfortunately our kids are in a war zone daily when they walk into most schools.  My DH is an educator and has been for 30 years and absolutely loves kids but he said that things have changed sooooo very much and it's just like you said....most of it is due to parents either not parenting or like the parent you had bring kids to "fight".  Unfortunately she will be taking care of this kid the rest of his life either from home, jail or McAlester!

I agree...look into the restraining order for you and your son.  In this day and time we have to take all of that stuff seriously.  This should also be shared with the soccer coach as well.  Do not take it lightly....

Good luck!  Prayers go up for you and your family!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I called the high school and talked with the principal and the soccer coach today.  The freshman is in a different school but has an older brother.  The only thing they would say is that the older brother is no longer enrolled in this school district and if he comes on campus he will be arrested. Yep, the family is "known" to the school district, too.

From my converstation with the coach, looks like the kid is off the team, but the boys actually want him to stay on the team....they can't wait to get him on the soccer field and teach him a lesson.  I tried to be rational and tell them that hurting the kid wouldn't solve anything, but it was hard!

Thanks for the great advise!

Some parents are just nuts. I hope they leave your son alone at school.

I don't have children so I know I'm out of touch but this amazes me.  What a scum bucket mother.  How does she sleep at night?

The saddest part is that I have kids in elementary school and believe it or not these kind of things go on there as well.

Thanks to your great advice, I called to find out information on a restrainiing order.  Amazingly enough, the person that answered the phone at the Canadian County DA's office is a friend of my parents.  She was shocked when I relayed the story and said that a police report was all that was needed to get the judge to sign the paperwork.  I should have the paperwork by tomorrow and have it taken care of before the weekend.

Thanks again for all the advice and thought and prayers and good wishes.
