Biggest Loser and the RNY dude

I'm thinking it was slider foods and there is a window of opportunity and then the ability to absorb comes back-never 100 percent, but enough to gain.
Bob Greene was saying on Oprah that obesity needed to be treated as a lifetime condition that could be managed, and that made a whole lot of sense to me. The way he said it gave some comfort to-it's just like asthma or anything else-it CAN be managed.
But, I also think he has an unfair advantage too-smaller capacity and still some malabsorption, AND if he dumps he can "get rid" of a spur of the moment mistake. I wish they would talk more about any special needs he has too-I have to be super careful with hydration during activities, cause I can't gulp water if I get too dry....things like that would be of interest to all WLS people.

The slider foods will get past any surgery. People who keep their lapbands too tight will often end up gaining weight as they turn to ice cream. (Been there, didn't gain weight, but understand the compulsion). If your band is too tight, you really can't eat food, you get hungry (more head hunger but your body is starving too) and ice cream tastes soooooooo good at that point. I do believe people can get addicted to the high fat, creamy textures and will sometime keep their bands too tight to justify getting their "fix".
It's a slippery slope though (like all bad habits)...weight gain is the best thing that can come of it-too tight can lead to other complications more serious.
I have treats-but I do reality checks. And for me-if I am having something two days in a row, it's not a treat it's becoming a habit that I address.
