Can I eat too much?
I'm afraid I'm able to eat more than I should be able to. I am 4 months, 2 weeks, and 5 days post-op. I'm a "light weight" and have only lost 53 lbs. I haven't lost any weight in quite awhile now. I fluctuate by a couple pounds over the past month but that is it.
My brother had rny November 10, so he is about 3 months behind me and he is amazed at how much more I can eat than he can. I'm trying to not compare myself with others, but I want to be able to make the most of my "honeymoon" period.
The day my brother saw me eat, I ate a whole egg and two slices of deli sliced cheddar cheese. I made the egg like an omelette and put one slice of the cheese inside and then another slice on top. I ate it all.
A typical lunch for me at work is 3 slices of thin (not shaved) deli turkey, bit of di'jon mustard and a slice of deli provolone wrapped up like a burrito.
Someone please give me their imput as to if this is about the right amount I should be eating at this stage of the game.
Thanks in advance,
Dot
When I was out at 4 months, I looked back on my notes and could eat a full cup of food until after a year out and now I eat about 1 and a half cups of food sometimes 2 cups depending on if it has gravy or is easy to swallow. I remain small waisted and don't gain. Cowboyonfire (Thomas) got a lot of responses when he asked in a couple of the forums he posted in and most of the answers were about the same.

I find that I can eat a lot more than most people that I see post on here. But then I am not eating side dishes with my protein either most of the time. Now if I make a full dinner with an entree (say a chicken breast) with a salad and a vegetable side I cannot eat but about half of everything. I went out to Cheesecake Factory with my mom and nephew and got a grilled chicken dish with a side salad. I ate about 3/4 of the salad and about 1/4 of the chicken and I was so stuffed I hurt all night. It seems to vary from day to day too.
Dot I am a year and one month out. I can eat more depending on what food it is. For example I can eat more salad then I think I should be able to. Soups are at a cup. I can eat a scrampled egg and a slice of toast...or two small sausage patties and a half slice of toast. If you think that you are eatting to much go back on the pre diet if you get full from it then your pouch is fine. If not then you have stretched it and you will have to be more aware of what you do eat.
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
Dot:
My suggestion would be this: JOURNAL and be sure to include amounts - email it to your dietitian and see Jess or Chris have to say.
Just by looking at what you have posted I think you are okay - but you need to do a full journal including liquid and exercise to get a good look at things. Up your water intake too because that can jump start you. I would not reverse directions at this point in the journey without at least having a conversation with Jess or Chris. I know it is not convenient for you to pop in for an appointment because of the distance, but they are available to all their patients via phone or email as well.
Two things - men are different creatures - we all know that - but this surgery is included in that assumption - they have a different path basically and tend to lose faster early. Second - don't judge what is happening as a failure or different. We all lose differently - you've been here a while and if you think about it - we've all bounced this conversation around ad nauseum before.
The only path you should take is to discuss with Jess or Chris and see if there is some tweaking in your process needed. Hang in there - this is a roller coaster remember? Sometimes even 30 months out I have days I can eat the house down and other days when I can't get in a 1/2 cup of food.
Things will work out - contact WeightWise for direction.....Ruth

Not to impugn the sage advice from my esteemed friends here, but you might consider a RMR/VO2 assessment if you haven't had one. I know it's money to have it but it is such an eye opener. It may be that your metabolism is just a bit sluggish. It sure sounds like you are eating the correct amounts and you should be losing. Maybe something else is sabotaging your efforts.
I went this last monday for mine. Lucky I won it or I might not have done it. I found that at rest I am a little sluggish even though I am on thyroid medication. My dose may need to be adjusted. I also found that I was walking too fast when I exercise. Who'd a thunk that? My particular pace is 127 beats per minute. That.s where I burn 12.7 calories per minute of PURE FAT! Any more and I still burn but it switches to carbs. Academy sells a watch (Polaris FS1) that monitors your rate and you can adjust accordingly.
Look for the little stuff. You never know what may be tripping you up!
Good luck!
