 Hi,
Oh, I am going to drive you guys nuts!!!  I have to go shopping today, I am having my RNY tomorrow morning.  I need to buy the calcium supplements for post op, and I want to know from you guys what you have found to be the best and easiest to get down.  I don't want to buy some and they taste nasty or are impossible to get down, and I trust all of you!!
Thanks!!  And please hurry!!
Marie

Hi, Marie.
Any chewable Calcium Citrate will do. I take Celebrate Vitamin's Bariatric Calcium Plus Chewables (Hot Cocoa or Strawberry Creme flavor), but I order that online at www.celebratevitamins.com. That won't help you right now.
Does your doctor sell Bariatric Advantage chewables? That would be good to get, although I didn't like the taste. Everyone's different, though.
Otherwise, your best bet is to visit a place like GNC, to see what they have. You might be able to snag some samples, to tide you over until you can order what you want. Just make sure you get Calcium Citrate, not Calcium Carbonate.
Hope this helps.
Blessings,
Mary

Also, Marie, make sure you check with your doctor or nutritionist about what you are expected to take early post-op. I had the VSG and was told to take a bariatric multivitamin chewable twice a day (only) for the first 2 weeks. After that, the calcium, iron, and B-12 were added to that.

I've had good luck with the Bariatric Advantage chewables.  Mint was decent, but I like the cinnamon flavor best.  Best wishes tomorrow!

I can't remember the  brand, but I use the chewable calcium from the Integris pharmacy.  It's in the same building as Dr. G, on the first floor.
I tried the lemon lime one's at GNC and just couldn't stomach  them...

Good luck tomorrow!

Hi Marie

I take the chewable calcium and vitamins by Building Blocks, they taste pretty good to me.

I used the bariatric advantage vitamins and supplements for about 8 months and have recently ordered all my supplements from celebrate vitamins.  They work better for me and were much much cheaper!!   wwwcelebratevitamins.com
