New Year-Exercise Anyone?

Yeah, yeah, it's a cliche.  But I don't see it as a "new life" for me-just an improvement upon the improvements I've already made.  So, I'm kicking over ideas for a *gasp* regular exercise program.

Now really, I have no excuse.  I have DVD's, WII's, recumbent bikes and critters out the wazzoooooo, all dying to go for a walk with me.  And I'm not going to spend another dime on something new.  I'm just going to commit to 30 minutes a day, and starting January 1, I'm going to record that 30 minutes and report it here once a week.

And, once a month, I'm going to take 10 cents a minute for every minute I log and donate it to a local, worthy cause and I'll report that too.....so, I will be paying a "gym fee" just to someone else besides the gym.

What are you going to do?

Now that i have been released I want to join mademoselles or the Y so I can have access to a pool till I get some more of my weight off and feel more comfortable doing it on land.

That is a wonderful idea. I might think about doing that and donating to the Great Dane rescue.

We got a Wii for the famdamily for Christmas & I am sore from head to toe from playing baseball & tennis & laughing! Fortunately I have access to the gym's on post here at Ft Sill & I own a clothes hanger/treadmill that is gathering dust along with a recumbant bike & various and assorted weights. I had an exercise room, but my oldest moved back home and I lost out. I have no excues other than my knee's hurt to get off my duff an move.

I plan to make better use of my recumbant bike.  I need to make that the FIRST thing I do when I get home from work.  Once I get finished with all the other "home" duties and sit my duff down then it's over.  Of course it hasn't helped that since I was rear-ended on Oct 29th I've been in physical therapy 3 days a week, 2 hours a session and so that eats up a huge part of my day after work...aaaaarrrrrggggghhhh.  I'm hoping that's over soon and my back is better soon as well.  I do want to get back on the bike at least 4 days a week along with my walking!  Great idea Deb!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I have no excuse either.  I must be more dedicated to the gym!  I too own a Wii and Wii fit.  Need to use that more extensively.

Thanks fo rthe inspiration, Deb.

Ok, well starting next Monday morning I'm going to post my totals for the week before (not tracking until January 1 so it will be a short week).   I will also post a monthly total for the previous month on the first day of each month (starting in February).  Anyone who thinks this might help them is welcome to post their totals as well, or just cheer me on.

WII is a valid form of exercise for this purpose.....from what little I've used mine, I can tell it really does help with body awareness and movement.

I really enjoy Water Aerobics at the Earlywine Y.  There are several of us who have had lap band surgery that attend.  My goal is to attend at least 3, preferrably 4 times a week.  Classes are Monday thru Thursday at 5:45 pm and on Saturday at 9:00 am.  It's a HUGE help to be accountable to someone.

If anyone else wants info or to join in, let me know.

I called Mademsoelles and I have an appointment for a tour Jan. 6th. They are 35 dollars a month for full access to all weight training, aerobics, pool time, water aerobics, robotic machines and acess to a personal trainer for that price.

That's a great idea-I'd thought about joining last year.
