Hello All,

I hope each of are having a wonderful Christmas time and are looking forward to a brand new year just around the corner!  We certainly are!

Our Christmas was particularly meaningful this year because of the many blessings are family has received.  Not the least of which was the liver transplant for my husband Steve. We have so much to give thanks for and one of my goals for the New Year is working each day to do something to make someone else's day a little brighter and make their life a bit easier.!

I am beginning to get a little bit concerned this evening because Steve has been much more tired than he has usually been since his transplant last month.  He spends a great deal of time sleeping the last several days, kinda like he did prior to transplant.   I admit I am getting worried.  It doesn't seem like its related to the Holidays because he has been pacing himself well.

On Monday we travel back to the U for another weekly check up.  So, I'm sure that if it is anything serious they will find it.  Those checkups are very thorough and I know he is in good hands.

The other issue is my stomach.  I am beginning again to have pain where my ulcer was in October as well as the one I had in February of 06.  My bari surgeon told me that if I have another one, I will probably have to have a revision surgery done and they tend to be significantly riskier than the initial one.  (I am having problems getting enough food in but am able to get in all my water.)   I hope a new ulcer hasn't developed, but accept whatever ichallenge is presented to me and will work to make the very best of the situation.  I have been trying positive self talk - "I am not getting another ulcer, I am not getting....."  Silly I know - anyway, enough about that.

I am getting ready to post some new pics up on my Profile of Christmas time and also the weird weather we have been having.  Until Thursday we had about 20" of snow on the ground.  Yesterday, it warmed up and began raining.  Today it was 50 degrees with thunderstorms and tomorrow it is supposed to get colder with lots more rain/snow and wind.  Crazy weather up here?  What is winter time like down in OK?

That's all for now dear folks.  Will talk again soon.  Everyone have a restful night.

Huggs,
Pammie

Pam, we have had a wonderful Christmas holiday. We are still enjoying ourselves relaxing and just taking it easy. I haven't cooked since Christmas day and I am enjoying that. The kids have a lot of new stuff to keep them occupied.
Sorry to hear that Steve is sleeping a lot. I will continue to pray for him. Hopefully he is just a little more tired than usual and that is all it is.

Our weather has been crazy. It was freezing cold for a couple of days and then yesterday it was 75 where I  am. then today it dropped down to 40. It is supposed to get colder and we are supposed to get some rain.
Stay warm,
Emily

Hi, Pam.
I had a nice Christmas, with all our children and grandchildren home, at one time or another. :)
Steve will have bouts of wanting to sleep a lot--at least that's what I understand, with transplant patients. Also, I have seen that most transplant patients get an opportunity to risk rejection. It's important that Steve not fear it and, also, not tolerate the notion. When you wrote about how you speak the words, "I am not getting another ulcer," you were very close to what you (and Steve) should do. The only thing I would suggest is that what you speak be couched in very positive words, as our mind tends to focus on the negative part. [I'm not that smart, but my therapist has researched this.] So, you might speak, "My body is ucler-free" (something like that).
I would encourage you and Steve to speak something like, "Steve's body accepts his new liver" [you]--and, "My body accepts my new liver" [Steve]. It's all biblical, too, based on the verse, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." :)
Do whatever you two can do, and then trust God for the rest. If you do end up having a revision, Pam, I believe you'll do well. You are a strong woman, and fear has no place in your life or your husband's (how's that for speaking the truth?). :)
You and Steve are in my prayers.
Blessings,
Mary

Thanks so much for all of you who have resonded to my post.  Each one of  had something very special to say and spoke the truth to me.  I love you all for that - thanks so much for everything you do for me.  My prayer is that as people reach out for help or maybe just some comforting words, I will be there to provide those for them as you all have done for me!

Till We Type Again  :)

I am sure that you will relax after his checkup and everything shows to be okay.  He has been through alot and maybe his body just needs the extra rest right now.

Our weather is nuts here so I am making no predictions about what it is supposed to do.  Right now it is 40.

Happy New Year!
