Something New and Wonderful

This actually happened before Christmas, but with all going on, I wanted to wait until things had settled down for me and everyone else before I mentioned it.

I have a new fellow in my life-and he's in the critter file down past the dogs, snakes and other kiddos, none of whom can ever be replaced-but it is something I've waited for my entire life-or at least ever since I've been a conscious being.

Casper was a gift from Shelly H and is even more special because of that.  I never could take the plunge on my own, but what's the old saying "never look a gift horse in the mouth?"  It's been really bizarre to be completely in mourning and completely over the moon at the same time and I needed to let the tears subside a bit before I shared the joy.

I never would have felt up to being responsible for a horse when I was heavy, but now, I really do.  I'm going to move Casper out to where I take riding lessons-he'll get some lessons, I'll continue on Bailey for a bit, then we'll work together to become a real team.  I feel like I've been reborn yet again.

I'm so very happy for you, Debra. Casper is a very lucky 'fella.' It is my prayer that both of you will have very many happy years together.
Blessings,
Mary

as a former horse owner, there is no better form of therapy then a horse. their form of expression is simple....nodding of the head..to the baying and the kicking of the heels not to mention the pinning back of the ears. may you find the joy in casper that i found in cherokee, tomahawk and pawnee...and my ultimate favorite little sugar who thought she was more human than horse...
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

I checked out your pictures. What a beauty he is! He looks so sweet. Then, as I'm feeling all warm and cuddly, I click on the picture right before the first picture of your horse, because I thought, "What's this one?" and it was a SNAKE! [shiver] As we say down south, "Criminelli!" -not sure how that's spelled. :)
