pain medications

hey.what pain medications (otc).are we allowed to take after surgery....im post op 5 months and get headache or back pain , what can i take...tyenol.i think they said ok but doesnthelp me much...anyone know....thanks....hope all had merry xmas...rosie posie

Rosie. Tylenol is fine to take. Also if that is not helping with the pain, you may want to give your doctor a call. Best of luck, Rita

hi rita, nice meeting you, thanks so much for replying......i figured tyenol ok, but wondered if i could use advil maybe..only thing that helps me.....i will call dr next week and see what they think is ok.i know i have to be careful with my new little tummy and i dont want to hurt it......

Advil was not on the list my doc gave me. Only Tylenol. You may want to see your primary dr if you need something stronger for headaches or backaches.

hi..thanks so for answering.....i didnt think it was ok, darn it....i have been toughing it out so far...i used to take advil daily, but stopped first of 2008 and had surgery aug 2008 and still havent taken any, only what docotor gave me after surgery...i seehim next month i think it is and i will ask then......but appreciate your input...i wasnt sure and thought i would ask.....happy new year...rosie posie

I was told to only take Tylenol post op.  And now espiecially since I have had two ulcers it is very important that I continue to do that.  Probably best to check with you drs. to be sure though.  Hope you get some relief from your pain soon.
