Hello all!!  I have RNY on Monday.  I am excited and very nervous.

Started liquid diet today ( on Christmas )  It was tough but I survived.  Any other idea of what to eat other than broth, jello, and protein?

I also wanted to say thanks to all of you for all the great info I have already found on this board.

Thomas and Lorna have been really great!

I am so excited begin this journey with all of you.

Strain the juice off soups or homemade stew. Tons of great flavor and still concidered liquid. I am not sure on your particular doctors orders you will find each has their own criteria. But I was allowed yogurt on mine as long as it had NO fruit chunks in it.  I could have 2% milk and of course use those popcicles and jellos to fill in teh void. Lots of water and or crystal light too. The water helps you fill full as does your protien drinks.

Having the time of my life!

Congratulations Sharon!  I had RNY last Monday, and even though I'm in some pain and, like you, had a Christmas Dinner of liquids, I wouldn't change a thing!  The pain isn't bad now most times, I had sat in the car on the way home from my sister's last night and it hurt when I got out, but after I walked around for a while the pain went away.  Christmas Dinner wasn't too bad, just because I knew there wasn't an option, so I dealt with it.  I have been draining the liquids off of soup, and homemade soup or stew, and drinking lots of water.  Hang in there, it's worth every moment of discomfort or longing for that food.  I promise!

Hugs,
Marsha

Good luck to you!!!  Monday will be here before you know it.  The liquid diet stuff is a drag, but you'll be glad you did it when your surgery is over & your system is already "cleaned out".

You are going to do great, but I'll be keeping all my fingers & toes crossed for you anyways!

Congrats on your upcoming RNY!  I am coming up on 5 years post-op from mine now and it's been great!  As far as liquids go, I suggest straining the broth off various soups you like.  It worked for me.  Much more flavor than just the plain ol' chicken or beef broth.  Keep us posted on your progress~ You'll be in my thoughts!
