Lurking for a while, moving back to Tulsa

Hello, I'm due to move to back to Tulsa in about a month and I just wanted to introduce myself.  I'm Sarah, a post-op of 6 years.  I've known several of you for nearly a decade, like Thomas, and others of you, just a few days.

I'm currently working & living in Wichita Falls TX for the past couple of years. But my father has taken ill and I will be back in Tulsa to care for him.  I will look forward to meeting alot of you once I get resettled.

I work in the in Oil and Gas industry and travel a lot of the time, but I need to get myself back on track and get away from the temptations of Christmas parties that offer bread pudding.  I talk to Thomas all of the time about it and he only says eat low carb, I already know the answer before I ask the question with him.

I want to wish all of you the very best of what the season can bring you and give my thanks to those who have welcomed me with such hospitality even though I'm a Texan.  Now if I could just lose the Rudolph red nose look from tissue wiping, I'd be happy.

Welcome, my new friend!  Glad to see you posting.  You will get the love and support you need from these wonderful people!

Much as I love Thomas, healthy carbs are good for you.  (fruit and veggies)  So we'll try to help as much as possible.  But, man, this is a tough time of year!

Glad you're moving back to Oklahoma but I'm so sorry for the cir****tances.  I'll add your father to my prayers.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Kim, trying to tell him anything is like arguing with a signboard.  Try living with him for a few years.  Talk about stubborn. I can't wait to move back to Tulsa.  I miss bigger malls than they have here in Wichita Falls.  Of course, I'd really rather be hanging out in the warm sunshine with Mr. Spoilsport but he has other interests from what he told me.

Debra, I hope the situation will be a bit easier for me and both of my parents.  Mom has been doing everything on her own and working full time at Williams has taken its toll on her.  So hopefully I'll be able to take on some of her responsibilities.  I really have no idea what I'm doing but I guess I'm cheaper than a full time nurse.  At least Dad is always in a good mood.  I'm thankful for the little things at this point.

Hi, Sarah.
Welcome to one of the (if not THE) most supportive forums on OH.com! I look forward to getting to know you. I'm a Kansas gal who has been embraced here, so I know you'll experience the same. Let me know how I can support you on your journey, although, with your experience, you'll be one I look up to. :)
Blessings,
Mary

Hi Sarah and welcome.  I am a fellow Dr G patient and look forward to meeting you as well.  T is a hoot and he has became a good friend in the time that I have gotten to know him.  Tulsa has probably changed a LOT since the last time you was up here so be in for some shocks.

Happy merrychristmahanukakwanzaanewyear!

Welcome back to Oklahoma, Sarah.  Hope things go well for you.  What do you do in the Oil and Gas?  Are you going to still be in it when you move back?  I am a Petroleum Landman, but things are so SLOW right now.  As a matter of fact I have been laid off since 12/3.  I'm hoping things start back up real soon.  Michael

Welcome back to Oklahoma.  Wish you were returning under bertter cir****tances.

Post early and often over here are you need support.  We all like each other and give, sometimes unsolicited, advise freely!

I am with Glitter Gal on this one, good carbs are healthy for us in moderation.  I love T but he is pretty focused on what he believes to be the only way to lose weight and keep it off.  You will find you own happy medium and get back on track.

Merry Christmas!

Denise

Hello and welcome back to Oklahoma from another Okie Sarah! T is great and very supportive if definately one to stick to his own beliefs. I am only a few weeks out and have lost 45 since surgery and cant wait to say I am 6 years out myself!

I don't work anymore due to a disability but the family get togethers have been going on for awhile already. (huge extended family) and it is hard to say no when they are waving cheesecake or chocalate in front of me but you can do it you made the choice to have this life altering surgery for yourself and have already made so many sacrifices for where you are and you can do it again. Have faith in yourself!

Having the time of my life!
