I have a nutrition question
I got some unflavored protien poweder and I'm using it in my soups that I'm throwing away!
I'm really not unhappy but I want to stick to whats best for me....I don't like the hospital! I don't wanna go back! I'll be on this phase until Jan 6th. Its been 7 days today.
Like I said I couldn't imagine anyone having this problem before surgery. ESPECIALLY me! I've planned and studied this for so long...I know what will happen if I don't sip sip sip! I am getting all of my walking in though! I am really tired tonight!
Thanks for listening to me and any suggestions will be appreciated.
I know each doctor is different and at WW you are on only clear liquids for like 10 days and that is only clear. You can have protein drinks but Cricket has said don't worry about that unless you are getting really weak. Then you move to the mushies for about the same time...I'm not sure if it is 10 days or 7, Basically, you are only on broth, jello, popcicles and then broth again....Cricket said to focus on getting the sipping in and that liquid can be the broths too....Kim, it is always easier to do this on the preop side......Once you get there it is a different ball game and each one is going to be different. Maybe you need to relax more....Maybe you are tired and maybe over did it at the mall....You just had a major procedure!! Take your time with this....follow all the orders your doctor gave you. Do it exactly as they tell you. If you are having problems with it, then maybe you need to give them a call....Call the nutritionist and talk with them to see if they have any idea's, but I think you need to not be so afraid of messing this up. If you do as you are told, you will do fine! This will be ok....It will! You are a strong woman with a little girl voice! LOL!
Hang in there girl....I hear it gets a whole lot better!!
(Remind me of all this later...OK?)
My nut said I can have it if its liquidy enough to go through a straw. Such as pudding, soups, shakes, etc. I'm a little worried because I want to make sure I get my protien but I'll have to get creative! Pull my big girl panties up and figure this out! So far I have got some really good advice! Just things I know, but forget because I want to do well.
I feel really good. I'm sore, but I don't feel bad. I guess thats what I need to concentrate on.
Thanks!
TTYL!

This superwoman didn't go to the Mall. I went to Wal-mart and Kohls! My 2 fav stores! LOL! I get to feeling so good that I forget and overdo it. Like today. Here it is after 1 am and I am on this silly computer typing because I had to take some pain meds and it makes me wide awake! But it takes my pain away.

It hasn't been bad. Once I got over the fear in the hospital. Oh, it hurts don't get me wrong but once I get off of the liquid stage I think I'll do fine. I'm not hungry, just board with liquids. But as they say, this too shall pass! My scale is moving down. I still have some swelling but its going down.
I have learned that I can give advice and support all day long....but to listen and take my own advice I'm a silly girl! LOL!
Anyway, its Christmas Eve! My little one is so Excited! I just got him to go to bed. He wanted to stay up really late so he would sleep late tomorrow so he can open his gifts sooner! LOL! We open our gifts Chrstmas Eve and Santa's on Christmas!
Merry Christmas!
Hugs
Kim
My daughter called yesterday and her 5 and 6 yr olds have not one gift. She has no money. I don't know what she is going to do...I can't help her cause I am broke.. I swear this is the hardest Christmas on everyone. This is breaking my heart as she used to adopt up to 10 families a year and buy everyone in the family gifts...all 10 families and now she can't even buy one thing! I am digging through closets to see if I bought things and put them up and forgot....I am first out the door to go be with Sheila before she goes into surgery....
Kim, have a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!!! Remember, this is the last Christmas that you will be heavy! Next year you can wear all those ugly sweaters and look hot in them!!
Hugs back
Sherry
I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's family. I wish there were something I could do to help. I have been so blessed and havne't shared much this year because of this surgery. I feel like a heal! We usually do lots more.
I hope Sheila is doing ok! Its nice of you to go see her. Tell her hello and hugs from me!
I will look forward to those ugly sweaters next year. I want more then anything to wear cruel girl jeans and phat baby boots (I think thats how you spell!)
Anyway! I will TTYL!

Hi, Kim.
Keep in mind that I'm a VSGer and, more importantly, not a doctor. However, I think that it may be more important at this point to get in your fluid than to get in the protein. At least that's what I was told (but, like I said, I had the Sleeve). You MUST get in 64 oz. of fluid (water, sugar-free jello, sugar-free popsicles, decaf. tea, protein shakes, broth, etc.). Your tummy may prefer hot, ice cold, or room temperature liquids, and that can change from day to day.
Try not to despair about the protein yet, because one day can be really difficult and the next day right on! There does come a point, though, where you have to get stern with yourself, especially about the fluids, and just determine that you will sip every 5 minutes and use a timer, if need be.
As far as the soup, if that's on your diet sheet, go for it, but you should purchase a strainer from WalMart, to strain out the pieces.
I enjoyed the Isopure Grape drink from Wt. Wise, and it had quite a bit of protein. Just keep trying different things.
Remember, Kim, that you know the One who can help you with this. Ask for His help, and He will be there for you. I will be praying for you, that you will conquer this glitch. I know you will.
Get some rest. Tomorrow will be better.
Blessings,

For the first 2 weeks after surg, I was on liquids whi*****luded at least 3 protein drinks a day. Soups had to be broth, no bits and pieces of anything. Lots of SF popsicles helped me to get my liquids in. Jello was allowed, liquid or setup. Very boring I know. But with getting this in and vitamins, I didn't really mind.
On the third week was able to go to "mushies". You could then blend soups, have cottage cheese and scambled eggs, instant potatoes (not fresh mashed), the pintos and cheese from Taco Bell (heaven), creme of wheat (thinned)chile and of course, more protein drinks. This continued thru week 4.
Starting with week 5, it was add one food at a time to see how you could handle it. This was when I started adding in tuna and fish first. Then I went to hamburger meat. Next was ground turkey and chicken. Had a hard time with the chicken and still do on occassion. Found that I can ground up chicken and put in in soups and eat that pretty well. I eventually tried some steak, could only eat about 3 bites of it and done. I don't eat it anymore. I found that I can't eat pork chops, but can fix a pork roast and eat that. It will all be trial and error. Just take it slow.
I still do protein drinks, sometimes I enjoy them, and other times just think of them as medicine I have to get done. I can't get all my protein in without them. Hope that helps some.
