Filter question
Hi.
I assume you're talking about a filter for potential blood clots. I did not get one. I was not high risk, and, if I recall, once it's in, it's in, and I'd really rather not have that (for me, that is). Just the fact that you're "somewhat anxious about it" may indicate that it's not something you may really want to do, especially if it's not required. I'm sure someone else, who has one, can help you better.
Blessings,
Mary

I understand what the benefits are-do they outweigh the risks? I think it's one of those things that you might say isn't worth it-unless it saves your life. As obese patients, we are all at a greater risk than someone who is not.
One question I would ask is if they stay in forever, do they continue to provide a benefit forever? If so, it might be worth it. If you are considering plastics later on, that would be one less thing to consider then.
It usually isn't recommended unless your BMI is over 50 or you are prone to blood clots. I have one and once I stopped freaking out it was ok. I had some discomfort for about a week but all is well now. I don't even think about it now and its been in there for a few months. I'm not sure when they will want to take it out but it will come out eventually.
