I have a lot of people ask for lists of items that I use to prepare recipes and meal just to make me comfortable. I'm not able to source my foods as easily so I have no choice other than to use mail order sources.
I don't have any allaince with any certain place tht I order from, but I get the majority of my stuff from one source. If you're able to find this stuff locally, it may be more helpful to you, but I was asked to publish this in the forum, so I'm only offering this as a suggestive list. It's not complete by far, but I know that I wish I knew about my needs just after surgery and the options that I had in front of me. besides this list are fresh fruits, veggies and high quality meats, so plase know this is a small snapshot of some of the things that i've chosen yet others seem to have a high use of the products listed.
Hope you like....
Aloha nu coconut fiber ---> http://www26.netrition.com/aloha_nu_coconut_fiber.html Add this to everything like protein drinks, cereals..etc do a google search on coconut fiber and you'll see why it's sooo worth getting. The fiber offsets any carbs you do take in while also helping to keep your regular.
Flax-Z-snax -----> http://www26.netrition.com/lowcarbsuccess_flaxomeal_page.htm l If you love oatmeal, you're gonna want this. You can't start it until mushy stage, but it's like pure heaven for any WLS patient. Add a spoonful of low/no carb fruit jelly like this-> http://www6.netrition.com/lanouba_spreads_page.html (one net carb per serving) or http://www6.netrition.com/joknal_fruit_spread.html or simply make fresh puree, add splash of cream, 2 or 3 packets of splenda, and it's amazing!
The greatest of protein powders that I've found (and I tried like 30 different types before I was happy), is Syntrax Nectar Caribbean Cooler....ZERO grit, ZERO carb, ZERO fat, and super low calorie can be found here-----> http://www6.netrition.com/syntrax_nectar_page.html the only flavor I don't like is fuzzy navel, but other like it just fine. (tastes like sour milk and peaches..lol), but the other flavors are awesome!
Just for the sake of it, when you're missing something sweet and you want to make sure you're able to eat a little something (2 net carbs) you can still eat one of these: http://www26.netrition.com/tastykake_sensables_finger_cake.h tml
After you're able to eat regular foods (after mushy stage). heaven and they'll save you from making bad mistakes and eating the real thing. (warning ! these do have alcohol sugars wich might trigger dumping..so go easy on them)
You can eat pasta later but you can't just eat any pasta, it must be low carb, so they make a special type that only allow you to digest 5 net carbs of this pasta. there are a lot of us who eat it once a week and still lose plenty of weight, you can but it at the same place. -----> http://www26.netrition.com/cgi/prices.cgi?manu_id=212 i love the linguinin and the rotini when you make a zero carb alfredo sauce from cream, basil, parmesan cheese, butter, chicken broth....it's soooo heavenly.
When you want a wrap, you can try this-------> http://www6.netrition.com/mama_lupes_tortillas_page.html I don't eat them personally, but everyone in my low carb army loves them. 3 net carbs per tortilla
IF you want something fried later in your diet....then you can fry things in coconut flour....almond flour....carbquik..just a few things you can use to make everything from fried zuchinni to fried pickles to fried chicken... (yes, i really did say fried chicken)..it's low carb and delicious if you've tested it and altered the recipe from your old homemade stuff. I make zero carb fried chicken all of the time for my guests and they can't tell the difference and I always get great comments.
During liquid phase...don't forget about miso soup... kikkoman brand is best...you get protein from the tofu powder and the salt helps to retain water for healthy healing.
If you have any questions that I, or someone in the forums aren't able to help you get to an answer, give your nutritionist or your doc a call about them. These aren't mandates, they are examples of what works for people in my crew of low carb WLS eaters who want to make sure we have quality low carb choices instead of reverting back to the choices that made us fat to begin with. You may find other alternatives that work for you and if so, i'm always open to changing my ists to include sources that can help me or others!
There are a ton of other options but instead of over loading you, i wanted to give you a little insight into some creative ideas in case you turn weak and were thinking of going back to the darkside...hehe... If you feel as though you've tried these and want more real examples of what to use in recipes or foods you can eat to help with the appetite that will return after you've healed, then i've got a ton of lists that you can use. I'll be posting this in the forum too for the other newbies that might want to read it.
See ya!

I've had an icky flu ever since my coconut flour arrived-I'm soooo eager to try it.....grrrrrr. I'm a big netrition junkie-and the shipping is really reasonable-it's one price, so I usually save up for a big old boxful of stuff.
I got myself a whole case of Ostrim-it's ostrich jerky-and it's the bomb!
Most of their stuff you can buy single servings of first, to see if you like them.

I found a website that is a *****eaper on the Flax Z Snax. You might check it out.
http://www.supplementwarehouse.com/brand.asp?brand=1504
They are actually a little cheaper on many of the things you listed.
Sorry I am a bargain shopper.
Thanks for all the info.
