A bit worried and stressed (long sorry)
Hi All,
I wanted to come to my newly found stress reliever site. :) You all give such wonderful advice and all are so caring. First of all, most of you know I'm still going through testing and I thought I was getting rather close to everything, but it turns out... I have been hounding my primary care physician to send my physician letter to Dr. Gornichec's office so they can submit that and my psych eval to my insurance. Well, I work as a medical transcriptionist for a company in California. I was very fortunate in that my insurance, which is Blue Shield of CA didn't need a whole lot of things in order to be approved. So, for well over a month now I have been waiting for the physician letter. I even typed it up and took it to their office. I was told by the receptionist that the doc would look over it and she (the receptionist) would type it up on their letter head if the doc approved. This was well over a week ago I did that and was told that they would have it done on Monday. Well....here it is Thursday and I called them today and was told, "She (the doctor) still has it." I probably wouldn't be so worried had I not been told about 2 weeks ago that my insurance would be changing on December 16th. Because my company is going through an HR company to provide the HR services, payroll and benefits. I wasn't sent any kind of information on what type of insurance, how much it was or even what it covers until TODAY. Anyway, I tried to explain this to her, and she said she would tell the doctor. I just don't know what else to do to get that letter! I'm just so steamin' mad. I do know doctors are busy, but the letter is not that long, and I've done most of the work in writing it out.
So, I am just so nervous right now, because I really don't know how all of this is going to affect everything I have already done. It's looking like Aetna and Health Net are the two choices for the new insurance. I don't really want to have to pay another 300.00 up front at the doctor's office to go through the same things again. I wouldn't worry so much if it had already been approved, but since it hasn't been... not sure what to expect.
I'm sorry this was so long, but I'm just sad. I want everything to go smoothly and be on my way to a healthy life.
Thank you all for reading. :) I hope you all are doing well.

Good luck, and your right bye bringing your stress here and releasing it.
Huge Hugs,
Sheila
Thank you so much. I really appreciate just knowing I'm not the only one who ends up going through so much to finally be healthy. I know there are probably others that have either been in my situation or have had to endure much more. Maybe it's just a test for me, I don't know.
I did find out I have until January 15th to enroll in the new insurance, but what confuses me I guess is the fact the lady told me today that I have been covered since December 16th. I guess I just don't fully understand all of the insurance hoopla, but I have decided to not enroll until close to the deadline and see if I can get an approval BEFORE the 15th. If that doc would just send in that darned letter! That's been the hold up this whole time. Because ALL my BS of CA needed was the psych evaluation, which I know I passed and that letter from the primary care physician in order for an approval.
But, like I said, maybe i'm just being tested. Thank you so much for your kind words and understanding. :) Hugs back, I needed it.
Best of luck.
Debbie
Hi DEbbie,
Thank you for your response. You know, I remember Kim saying that I could use my GYN since he was the one who found I was hypothyroid and had high cholesterol. I have only been using him for almost a year, but it's funny because my husband told me I should make an appointment and take in the sample PCP letter and see if my GYN would do it. I am going to make an appointment on Monday.
I did find out today that I will be covered with my BS of CA until December 31st, at which time I will have to use the new insurance. So, not sure still how all of that will affect everything. I had no problems with my current insurance, but it's my employer who sprung this on all of us about 2-1/2 weeks ago. I had no IDEA they were even thinking of changing the insurance. I had no deductible and with the new insurance there are so many choices of high deductibles, and a few low ones. So, I just don't know which one to pick. :(
Thank you again everyone for the comforting responses. You are are just terrific :) Big, big HUGS

Document EVERYTHING....timelines, who you talked to and all of that stuff. I've got friends who work in the insurance biz and documentation in case of a review is everything to them. Ask for a benefits co-ordinator from the insurance comany or an advocate from the insurance company that isn't with your particular workplace, so that way you can get the insurance company's view before they start to fight you. (and they will)....so arm yourself and dig your heels in....lotsof insurance companies turn everyone down just waiting for the appeal process...(it's what I hear from my friends who work there)...I was a self pay, so I wish i knew how better to help you....
I'm pulling for you though!
