Input greatly appreciate!!!
Not sure if this is an ok thing or not, but my email is [email protected] if you feel more comfortable expressing yourself there.
I only know of a Dr. Gorn....(sorry, don't know his name for sure, just remember gorn something). He is at Baptist I believe. And then we have heard of Dr. Walton in Edmond also. Neither of us know anyone personally that has had surgery with either so input is soooo needed.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
On this board you will find many of the members have used both of those doctors with great results. Pricing is a difference and something to check into.
You will also find many different results with the different surgeries.
I personally was determined to do the lab band as the media looks at it as removable. After attending the seminar, I decided I would have the Gastric Sleeve. Dr Walton, which is to be my doctor, said not to look at any choice we make as changeable. It is like most diets, a life changing choice.
I would suggest you go to a free seminar at Weight Wise. You can get all the pro's and con's of each type of surgery before you make a decision and you don't even have to use them as the doctors of choice. It is for information purposes. I went to one in June of 07 and again in June 08. I was not ready to make the sacrafices it takes to do this in 07. I am now ready to change my life and save it at the same time.
Read through the posts on here and you will learn so much! Good luck in your quest to discover which path is right for your friend. I hope you will find your answers here.

All the doctors mentioned so far have good reps, I am a patient of Dr. Nelson in Norman (she did not do my surgery) but I have been very pleased with aftercare.
I do have the lapband and I'm happy with it, but "popping it out if it doesn't work" just really isn't a realistic depiction. Yes, it can be removed, but removing it is another surgery, and depending on scar tissue and other things, it's not a slam dunk by any means.
All the surgeries really demand compliance with your surgeon's instructions to be successful, so make sure you pick a program that will work with your lifestyle-and be brutally honest with yourself about what you think you can achieve and comply with. The stakes for non compliance with any of the surgeries are much greater than just cheating on a diet. That said, I have no regrets except that I didn't do this sooner.
