Weight Wise self pay question about pre-op?

I am going in for pre-op tomorrow and how much does the office visit and lab cost?  Do I just go upstairs and go from there?  What can I expect from pre-op?  Do I meet with Dr B??

Thanks in advance,
Sheila

NADA...nothing for the office visit.  It's all included in the total.  The lab work you will have to pay for.  Just one word of advice...if your personal insurance pays for lab work then why not get what WW orders and let your lab run then or run them though you doc's office?  My personal insurance carrier did pay for labs but wouldn't have through WW.  I still have my follow-up lab work ran through my primary doc.

I met with the PA for my pre-op first and she told me basically how things would go.  looked at what weight I had left to loose and helped me with another "very aggresive" plan to loose the last few pounds.  I don't remember for sure but I don't think I saw Dr. W at that appointment.

I was responsible for paying for the follow-up visits to the dietician or the psychologist but you need to make sure they KNOW you are self-pay because they reduce those charges quite a bit if insurance isn't going to pay!!!  Good luck and I know you're excited!!!

I was wondering the same thing about the lab tests....I know that since I have had to wait so long to get this, that the office visits have only added to the price more and more.....Just seeing Kathy and the Nut each month is about 50 and they are still charging me for seeing Dr. Walton the first time...80 bucks. The first advocate I had, said throw it away.....the next said no it costs that....then I heard no it is part of the surgery costs.....I çan't find out much of anything. The diet class went from 10 on one card I had an appointment , to now it is $30.  I know nothing about the preop costs.....I didn't know those were another costs.....

That is one thing everyone who is self paying needs to know....That $1250 price is not the total costs!! There are alot of things you will be paying for that you need to be ready for!  Those can be close to 3,000 in some cases.

I am anxious to hear what others have to say about these other costs too Sheila! Thanks for asking it!

Okay, Debbie, I am confused..LOL.. I have already had the first lab work done and did that through my primary care physician.  Tomorrow, I go for what they call "pre-op" visit, I was told bloodwork, schedule date (which is already set for tentative date of 12/24), if my weight is right on progress.  So do I need to do bloodwork through my primary care physician.  They have already done the 8 test for labs..

Hope I haven't confused your more..

Sherry, your right on office visits.  I usually run from $60-$75 for visit with chris, somer and kathy...  It's not all inclusive..

Okay, hope I can clarify..

Thanks,
Sheila

I would call Kathy or the PA and ask her about the lab work they plan to do tomorrow and see if they can fax the order to your primary care physician.  They DO charge for all lab work at WW...extra and it is NOT included.  I do know tht much.  They probably need the more recent blood work to make sure everything looks AOK for your surgery next week.  Call them.

Sheila;

You will need to do lab work again before surgery - no more than 10 days before. This is so that they know everything is ok and you can proceed with surgery. I did see Dr. B. on my pre-op appt.  My insurance paid for the lab work at WW.

Okay, I left a V/m for Cheryl to call me back.  I remember her telling me one day it was $30.00 for lab work but I wanted to reconfirm.  $30.00 is no biggie just to get it done and over with there.

I will let you know once I hear something.  Thanks everyone for chiming in.

Insurance paid all but the surgery, so I stuck it to them every chance I got. They footed the bill every time I went and had my incision packed...every test I needed, every supply I used.

The others are right...all office visits for the first year are included. Good luck!

What time is your appointment?  I have one for 8:15 with Dr W.  It's probably too early to see you.  I just have to get in and out and back to the "grindstone"!!  Good luck!!
