Biggest Loser

The only show I watch regularly is the biggest loser.  I'm not a big reality fan, but I do enjoy this show because I can relate to the struggles of each person.  Is anyone else here a fan?

I'm excited about next season because they are going to do a group of really big people.  I think that by keeping the weight ranges closer together it's a more competitive field and my hope is they highlight some of the lower impact things a person can do to lose weight.

I am a huge fan.  Wait, huge is too descriptive!  A fan!!!  I am so glad Michelle won.  She is a real cutie.  A guy on the men's forum had been picked with a friend for the biggest loser, but the friend then didn't get them the paperwork on time.  I was confused since this last one was families, but I guess it was for the one coming up.  I am looking forward to this next one, because, like you said Debra, they are going to be larger starting out.  Should be interesting.

SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES - NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.

Debra,
I was a bigger fan before I started this weightloss journey...literally and figuratively !!! On one hand, I wish the show would do RMR and VO2 tests and teach the audience a thing or two about exercising smarter not harder. On the other hand, I think putting a show like this on the air in primetime puts the obesity issue out there in a good way. After all, weightloss is HARD WORK and they show that week after week.
On the other hand...wait that's too many hands!! LOL

I love the show and watched it last night....My mother keeps asking why I can't do that to lose the weight.....Those people do NOTHING but work out and are a very strict diet too. They have trainers 24/7. This show is what makes people say to us.....If they can lose it, why can't you?
I don't know how to respond to it.

I was so glad Michelle won and I was glad her hubby was chosen for the final 3. It bothered me that his wife wanted it so bad that she felt she deserved to be in the final 3 more than her Hubby did and he loved her so much that he wanted everyone to vote for her and not him....He was sacraficial where she was selfi****hat's how I felt and I actually thought America would pick him because of just that fact.

My other compalint is the Army style treatment of the contestants. Jillian is down right cruel. I  liked Bob and I loved the Blond girl they had on last time. I don't like Jillian. I just don't think yelling at a person the way she does is right.....She get's results, but It really upsets me to watch how she treats them....
Ok that is my rant about the Biggest Loser. Since they are using even larger people for the next round, I think there is more danger in having them lose this large of an amount, without increasing the time frame....What do I know though???
I'm just happy for Michelle and she looked  amazing!!

For your Mom:  (said very calmly) Mom, anyone could lose weight in s situation isolated from life with trainers and support 24/7.  It's a good show, with some good points, but it is not real.  Many of the contestants struggle after the finale-even some of the finalists.  The does show us what is possible for a heavy person to achieve, but not in a real world way.

Michelle was my choice too, and I think part of my reaction to Heba's situation was my own jealousy-how nice to have a man do that for you.  But, don't you also think they were thinking late in the season _hey, we could take home both prizes if we play this right?  (I know I would have).  I think America was saying, NO, in the end, you walk this journey alone-and every one of the other contestants would have put their loved ones up their if they could have.

I've come to love Jillian after hating her for several seasons, because she has broken through several emotional walls and I finally realized she has 10 weeks, not 10 years to do it.  I finally got it that she's not yelling at the person, she's yelling at what's holding them back and a shot of adrenalyn can help you push a little further, so the yelling does appear to work on some level.

My favorite thing about the whole show is that the end products are usually not too thin-and they all look healthy and good.

Oh I love watching the biggest loser.. I am so glad Michelle won, she really deserved it.. Oh Vicky lost by one pound.. Loved it!!! Woohooo!!! Vicky was to much of a game player and not in it for getting healthy.  Just my opinion though...

I enjoy watching the show too..

I think game play has gotten more acceptable, although it bothers me a bit when it's mean spirited.  Every year the blue team gangs up on the black team and every year I feel bad about it....LOL.  But it is kind of an interesting metaphor-because in real life, as you begin to lose a lot of weight, there are usually forces (friends, co-workers) who suddenly want to sabatoge the whole process for you.  But the Vicky Heba thing was uncomfortably close to the cliques in highschool, and I hated that-and whether it was a deliberate decision or not, Vicky "chose" Heba cause she thought she could beat her, so Heba was playing the role of the fat friend one more time.

Edited to add:  Whew-I can tell where the people/watching judgemental part of me went to when I decided to eliminate it from my real life.....well, too bad, you put yourself on national tv I can say what I want...LOL.
