Hi All, more testing

Hi All,

I went to see my doctor for the first visit after most of my testing.  I am hoping the weather will hold out to get my sleep study out of the way Wednesday night.  This is gonna be hard because I am a third shifter, and they want me there at 8 pm on Wednesday night.  I'm thinking I will probably stay up most of the day that day and maybe I'll be able to sleep. 

When I went to see Dr. Gornichec, we went over all of my other testing I have had and I have to get an EGD.  Needless to say I'm not really looking forward to that, but it has to be done.  What can I expect with the EGD?

Paulette, the EGD is a piece of cake. It takes about 10 minutes and you are done. They give you some meds to relax you and it is all good. No need to worry about that.

Paulette, it is one of the best test there is!! They give you great drugs...You know nothing and  you are done!! You will need someone to take you and pick you up though....The drugs are that good!
I hope all goes well for you in your tests! The sleep studies are also not as bad as people think...just take a sleeping pill with you...some places give you one but the place I went made me provide my own if I needed it.  Neither is a big deal......You will do great!

Oh good!! Thank you both so much.  That makes me feel a whole bunch better.  I wondered about taking anything to make me sleepy.  I actually went ahead and cancelled the sleep study for tomorrow just because I'm not sure what the weather is going to do.  I'm rescheduled again for January 13th.  I am hoping there is a cancellation so I can go sooner.

Hi Grandmaree,

I haven't gotten a date yet for the EGD.  I am thinking they will contact me sometime this week.  I rescheduled my sleep study, because I was afraid the weather would get bad.  So, I"m rescheduled for the 13th of January.  I told them that if they had a cancellation and could get me in sooner to please do, and they told me they would. 

We'll see.  :) How are you doing?

 The EGD is a piece of cake!!  One second you are talking with the techs, maybe saying "hi" to Dr. G, and the next you are waking up in recovery room.  I was only in recovery for  little while, and then went home.  No pain, no nothing!!  Don't fret this test!!  I was worried about it too, but found out it was nothing!!  Good luck with your sleepless study!!  I have had 3 of them.....I hope after my surgery I am will be done with c-pap and sleep studies!!
Good luck with your EGD, too!!  When do you have it?
