Help
If you haven't tried this yet, give it a shot. I too got sick to my stomach every time I drank the protein shake after I got home. I was mixing mine with milk, so switched to water to see if it made a difference and it did. For some reason developed lactose intolerance after surgery.
Now I can finally dring milk again, although not more than 4 ozs at a time. I have started using some lactose free milk and it not only tastes great, but makes the protein drinks creamery than when mixed with water.
Keep trying to get your protein drinks in, they will help with your recovery.

You tried almond milk? Very calming to the human body... cant' stand the taste without splenda in it though... don't forget about soy milk either. How about changing brands of protein poweder that completely changes the taste as well? maybe it's a texture thing...Syntax make a brand called Nectar...the flavor I use is caribbean cooler and it's outstanding with zero gritty taste and no carbs and super low calories.
Hope that helps!
