House 12/2

Someone may have already commented on this and if so I'm sorry to bring it up again but i'm just so steamed!!  I'm a huge fan of the FOX tv show "House" however I stay so busy during the week that I have to DVR all the shows and catch up on the weekends. Well here lately my weekends have been full too so it's taken me a while to get around to catching up on my favorite shows...I got so disgusted while watching the episode of "House" that aired on 12/2 that I considered never watching the show again. Basicly the show featured a personal trainer who collapsed during the filming of an infomercial she was shooting for her new fitness video...while viewing her xrays and MRI images the team revealed that she had undergone Gastric Bypass to loose weight and had all her medical reccords pulled and sealed so that she could sell her weight loss DVD's promoting exercise and healty living as a way to loose weight. Of course the team practicly killed her trying to diagnose her just like they do every week, but finally House realized that she had some weird unheard of disease that was only cured by a diet high in Fat and Carbs. They gave her the option of reversing her RNY and going on an all carb fatty diet, there were medicines they could give her that would help but not cure her disease, they berated the poor girl and made her to lool like a vain, disgusting person because she opted not to have her RNY reversed and go on the High carb/fat diet accusing her of wanting to be "pretty, rather than Healthy". Granted these are all fictional characters and a "made-up" storyline but I feel like the way they handled the subject matter the writers of the show made it look like the trainer was a "fraud" not because she lied to the people buying her DVD's but because she didn't want to trade her slim figure, and new life for her old one because of this disease.
If the disease was real, and if after having my life totally reinvented by RNY I found out that I had it and would have to face the option of going back to being what I am currently, I gaurntee that I would make the same decison as that fictional character. If there were any treatments out there that would help me not have to go back then I would do them first absolutly. I wish these mainstream shows and media didn't portray RNY'rs as people who chose the "easy" way, I wish all these skinny writers and producers who've never walked a mile in fat shoes,  wearing their size 3's and sipping their Starbucks would all be hit by a bus while crossing a busy NYC street.....No that was mean I don't really wish that...well maybe a little.

Send the producers and email stating you think they need to get there facts straight. That there is enough bullsh$t about WLS that a popular show like that does not need to add to the propaganda...If you can get everyone to do it they will take notice....
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

I am also a fan of Oprah Winfrey (most of the time), however, she is so against any WLS!!!  She needs to get her facts straight about it as well.  We can't all afford chefs and personal trainers at our beck and call!!  This was NOT an easy way out.  Any of the OH members can testify to that one.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

And to top it off even with all her chefs and personal trainers, she still can't keep her weight off either.  Go figure!

I guess it just shows we ALL have our own personal battles with obesity and/or other things whatever they might be.  I just wish she'd lay off the WLS issues when it has helped so  many of us when nothing else would work.

I keep hoping that O will see the light-I do love her so, and I just wish she could be free of the fat.  No, it won't free her from the other issues that she has, but it will help her face them cause dang it, she'll just feel better.

As for House, that's a very judgemental line the writers took, but that's entertainment.  I do hate that popular culture still looks at fat as a vanity issue, but I don't mind them taking a swipe at those fitness people.  They rank right up there with certain evangelists in my mind, as people who started out intending to help other and who then get swayed by money.

I also think those size 0 writers might be as much prisoners of their own fear of fat as we were prisoners of fat-so I pity them in a way, but honestly I try not to think of them at all.

Glad to see that I am not the only one who lets people know they are "number one with me, too"...
