GOOD AFTERNOON WLS buddies... Since it is supposed to get extremely cold for the week I decided to make stew (for the first time in my life). Here's the problem though, my crock pot is broken and I burned out the bottom of my huge pot in an unfortunate bean incident (I promise I am a decent cook, I sometimes just get side tracked). ANY WHOOOO... I am making it in a casserole dish ion low temp. in the oven. It is cooking right now so I will let everyone know how it turns out. We shall see. This is what I put in it:
Fresh Green Beans
Zucchini
Yellow Squash
Stew Meat
Beef Broth
Crushed Tomatoes

I am not a big fan of onions so there is not any in there BUT I am adding some Tabasco later so that it will be spicy (love spicy).

Off subject, but I just thought I would share.
Everyone stay warm this week and have a great Sunday!

OKCgirl...

ummm I almost hate to ask this...  but how do you break a crock pot?  and tell us more about the bad beans incident....   I'm giggling on the inside....just a little bit...

This is almost Indian by nature....

From this day forward, the tribe shall call you "hard on crockery" oh ye of no****ching the water levels in our pots!

hehe...

It should be pretty tasty but I'd add some more seasoning like basil or tarragon or oregano.  You're my kind of cook - I caught an electric stove on fire during my Italian cooking class.  My cooking usually has a lot of color in it - my friends call it burnt spots and my casseroles are like the Bisquit Impossible Pies - they make their own crust!!!  donna

Ok I promise not to ask about the bean incident and I am thinking a big pot of chili one day I even bought fritos and lost of cheese so the kids can have chilli pies with leftovers. I have never learned to cook small batches so I will be freezing lots of chili as well. Thankfully it and spagettii sauce freeze well.

I used to collect and use antique kitchen appliances until I got tired of putting out all the fires.  Sparks shooting out of the blender was the one I remember the best....good times.

Stew sounds so good!!! I'm just now starting the mushy stage, seems like it's been forever since surgery. I can't wait to have a few pieces of stew meat and veggies!!!

Amber-

You could probably eat the soupy part and mush up the potatoes, BUT the meat is probably out! Think about it this way, you have made it to the mushies :)

Stay warm!

My brother came up and stayed with me last night and my mom and her husband came over so I made some Taco Soup. I love soup when it is cold outside and I have plenty left to freeze and eat later.

The one thing with soup is I always drink the "liquid" part of the soup first and then eat the veggies/meat.  If you don't it's kind of like drinking with eating I think.  Just an idea.  I love the broth from the stew I made.  I use hamburger in my stew and my pouch was very happy with it.  I also put grated cheese on top which added flavor and protein as well!!!  Oooooh  I think I'll make some tonight.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!
