Christmas songs........over and over and over

The week of Thanksgiving, I didn't want Christmas songs yet....Radio stations cut out all normal songs and only play the Christmas ones.....Now, as I listen to them and am singing right along. For the first time I thought about something.....Everyone knows all the Christmas songs and sing along. I went into Sams to return something and some lady was singing along to the songs being played....I had been in my mind but was to embarrassed to do so aloud. My grandson was singing the songs yesterday and I thought how wonderful that we both can sing the same song and know all the words....I never just stopped and realized how singing along together can draw you close. It was a fun time for both of us! He was so proud that he knew the words too.
He has sung the BC Clark song for a couple of years...Even my son who lives in CA. and has for 15 years can still sing that jingle!!
My one draw back to all the Christmas songs, is that now there are so many versions of one song! Some good....some ruin the song! It's like the National Anthem.....Some sing it beautiful, some butcher it up. Some songs are not meant to be changed!!!
Well, that is my rave and rant of Christmas music!
I'm going out to move some fire wood in before the cold weather gets here!

Y'all are makin' this music teacher shout hallelujah!!!! Yes, Yes, Yessssssssss!!!!!!!
Music can bring total strangers together. Music makes life a little more bearable. It can brighten everything ...even this dismal economy. I believe the most powerful things in the world are NOT things. They are intangilbles. Like music.
If you are in pain or despair. If you are alone or with a crowd. Get thee some MUSIC!! I think I have been healed and helped by music as much as any medicine. I go a little off the deep end about it sometimes....sorry!
Everybody...from the top...here we go...Jewelry is the gift to give,'cause it's the gift that'll live and live so give the gift you know can't fail from B.C. Clark Anniversary Sale.

Most sales are after Christmas but...  ...  ... ~Lisa~

Lisa,
I can have no energy at all and if I turn on music it makes my body move and my heart sing!!
I used to get happy feet in the stores when I could hear music....My kids would say oh nooooo
mom's getting happy feet! lol That was years and years ago! I stil dance when I clean house as do my daughters! Music  is one of the first things a young child relates to...even before talking they move to music!  I never had a music teacher....they didn't have them when I was a child or at least not where I went to schools. My parents taught me to love it. Thank you for teaching our children to love music, now if they will pass it on and on .....

I totally agree Lisa!  I've even had an emergency situation with my daughter more than once and when I leave from work or home to meet up with her at the ER I find that rather than panic (she's juvenile diabetic) I will remember some praise and worship song maybe from Sunday and it soothes my soul and calms me like nothing other!!  Music can make me remember times and when and were I heard it and during my dating days with my husband.  "Merry Christmas Darling" was first out during the Viet Nam era and it meant so much to me because he was in the military at that time.  I still get  a little emotional when I hear it but I sing with it as well.!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I agree that music is a healing force-and I think it can heal whether people are aware of it or not.  Right now I'm listening to reggae after several hours of Chrismtas music-I can only take so much good cheer, Oliver needs his fix of Opera every couple of days. Rock, metal, country and western, I love it all.

OMG, when I was home for my appt this past week, I got to hear the BC Clark jingle.  I know for sure it's Christmas!  What a tradition.

SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES - NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.

I wondered how many years that song had been sung in Oklahoma.....Well, I looked it up!

The Jingle was first written and produced in 1956, and soon it developed a life of its own.  The public made that clear in 1961 when B. C. Clark produced a new jingle thinking the original one was dated and had run its course.  It was replaced with the old familiar one within hours, after a barrage of complaints.  One small adjustment did have to be made in 1977 when television commercials went from 60 seconds to 30 seconds.  Originally 35 seconds long, the line “The Christmas wish of B. C. Clark is to keep on pleasing you” had to be edited from the original song in order to make it fit.  Today, people still ask about the mysterious “missing line.”

Who knew??? LOL

I can turn on a good station and get busy cleaning my house or whatever but if I don't turn it on I quickly lose interest LOL!  Me and my kids faithfully watch don't forget the lyrics! I can't carry a tune in a bucket but I do know the words and my little girl has a beautiful soprano that I wonder where it came from LOL!

I propose the Christmas Holiday Limitations Act of 2009.  If I were King, no store could advertise or display anything Christmas until Thanksgiving, and would have to take it down by New Year's Day.  Same deal with Christmas music, except it should end on December 26.  Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, knock yourself out.  Bah humbug!

Actually, it's kinda nice, I just wi**** didn't go on so long.
