Be there or be square....

Well I haven't seen much action on the boards for the past couple of days....so i've had a random thought that I hope you will ponder....

I used to love watching some of the old commercials.....like the songs that taught most of us how to remember the constitution or some of those other fun cartoon saturday morning songs...

BUT  how many of you remember the dog food commerical that had the Chuck Wagon "stagecoach" that had the little rider and would have like a pack of dogs running behind it?  I would be watching "SHAZAAM" , Land of the Lost, or the electric company or something cool like that...

Anyway, I just made myself laugh by thinking about that little stage coach coming through a lady's kitchen then running into the pantry when the dogs would tumble over themselves trying to catch it...

Could you imagine how scared the little driver would be?

here's a clip I found on youtube  funny ----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BBqgMQluDM

Then here's another oldie but goody---->  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fGTUFqPJo4

See ya on the flip side...   Silly wabbit.....Trix are for kids...

T.

What is your favorite OLDTIMEY commercial?

(if you are really young, you won't know what the hell I'm talking about, and that's ok...go back to being generation whatever for a while)

Not only did the commercials used to be funnier and better then most now. But what about Saturday Morning Cartoons???  Those just arent the same anymore either!!!

Like the smurfs!  My son tells me they do come on late at night but I havent seen it yet. Or Road runner???  that poor Coyote!

Today's cartoon seem so full of scarey and evil. And my probably biggest pet peeve over cartoons is late night on cartoon network. While the whole world cant afford the expanded bacis or the extra channels where you get variety in cartoon commercials.  But late at night cartoon network turns into Adult Swim. Now dont get me wrong I am sure they are good adult full of laughter cartoons!  BUT, I think that, that channel should stay geared to kids. Had this convo with dear hubby once and he said well at that time of night kids should be in bed... Well let me tell ya, when you got a sick on up at all hours of the night and cartoons seems to calm them a bit, you certainly wi**** was road runner or smurfs or something instead.

Anyways, I just dont think cartoons are near as good as they used to be. Sniffle, I miss the old days sometimes.

They dont have the fruity pepples commericals anymore or that I have seen with fred and barney, I alwasy liked those too,  guess I am fruity like that.

Yeah, about the only "old" commercial I know of is the old "where's the beef?" lady. : )

Not too young for me to remember!!!  I loved looking at that old dog food commercial.  Brought back some memories.  I remember the "Snap Krackle Pop, Rice Crispy" commercials.  Those were the kind that we all learned to sing with.  My kids would come running to the living room at the sound of the commercials when they were small.  They all 3 loved the jingles.

One of the classic commericals around the OKC area and still is the BC Clark Christmas Jingle.  It just isn't the Cristmas season until you hear those commercials!

As Bob Hope would sing:  "Thanks for the Memories!"

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I remember all of this, so I guess I haven't lost all of my memory.  I loved Land of the Lost.  Do you remember the show on PBS(I think) called Zoom?  And how about the New Zoo Review?  I have the BC Clark jingle on my cell phone that I use during Christmas time.  It's nice to have good childhood memories.  Lisa

Unfortunately, I can't relate. It's not because I'm too young, that's for sure. It's because I...what's the word...disassociated, so I have very few memories of my childhood. I don't remember my teachers, I don't remember learning but I must have because I know "stuff," I don't remember any family vacations even though I've been told we took at least one per year...nothing, pretty much. The few memories I have are not very good ones. Having said all that, I have made peace with my past, and I'm grateful for the "other me," who handled life, somehow. :)
As far as commercials, I'm mostly annoyed by them and I mute them. If someone tells me one is funny, I'll watch it...once. Maybe I'm weird. :)
Blessings,
Mary

T.  That was such a neat idea!  I remember all of those old shows.  I loved the swiss miss comercial.  I wanted that girl to come to my house so bad.  I loved bewitched, gilligans Island, Land of the Lost, The big Blue Marble, Gunsmoke, Bananza, Little House...I could go on on on....

I loved The Brady Bunch so much and my first born is named Brady and his last name is Bunch!  NOT KIDDING!  I really didn't name him after the show.  His dad was a cowboy and wanted a cowboy name!  So my first born is Brady Bunch! Poor kid.  Its us having hippy parents...He had a punked out momma and a wanna be rodeo star for parents! LOL!

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me." Erma Bombeck
