Christmas coming early for me!

Well almost... I'm still sick..(damn canadians...) but ANYWAY... I just unwrapped my first 40 foot trailer of solid Teak furniture from Bali, Indonesia and they gave me a few extra pieces for placing such a big order... So naturally, i'm a happy camper.....although I still have anothr container that I'll be unloading argh! Since it's solid teak, it'll last forever with little / no upkeep !

Anyway here's a couple of pics of some of the carved stuff they bonused me....

This first on is hard to see, but handcarved dolphins and coral on a Queen sized headboard, I tried to get the best shot I could, but it doesn't do it any justice...

Then here is a new coffee table (without the glass on top) It's about 6 ft long, so I had to step pretty far away to get it in the picture, it's so awesome in person....everyone is mezmerized by the size and how awesome of a job the master carvers did!

And then there's a painting that is only done with something called a palate knife and apparently it's really hard to paint, but I wanted it and it turned out so sweet.....i can't belive they didn' use a brush to do it!

And then they gave me a few sets of these turtle sculptures....

they're about 4 ft high and a couple of feet wide, but like 6 or 7 turtles on each statue

So I'm nearly finished with 2 more of the rental units and just have to finish decorating and stuff... then I'm off to my next project.... more on that later....lol

I should have taken a few pics of the regular furniture..like the seagrass woven stuff and the entertainment centers... not carved but just awesome things that I had them make after I found the styles (outta pottery barn catalogs) that I wanted made by them.

I've met several of the carvers in person and they're so careful and meticulous about what they do... amazing people turning out amazing quality. They live like mennonites....little communities of very pious people trying to live a peaceful life while making a decent living.

I'm gonna try to steal Dan and go over there sometime in the future...

I think that would be a good life, except for the carving part, I'd be minus a few fingers in a very short time.

T that stuff is awesome, specially the Dolphins. I have an old ex from years ago who I am still friends with who would just melt over those dolphins. Hopefully next fall me and the Misses (hopefully Mrs by then) will be coming down to see ya.

I absolutely love that painting! That's beautiful! YOu are a lucky guy to have gotten all of those wonderful things. I would love to see pictures of how your villas are decorated...you know...something to get me through the winter

Thomas - such beautiful stuff! I love it and with such Caribbean flair!

I especially like the dolphin headboard but the other stuff is awesome too.

Did you go to Bali to pick it all out?
