Update on my daughter.
I am so sorry for each of you.....not knowing is so hard!! Doctors are suposed to know things!!
When my daughter from Texas was 11 her brain started swelling...They did 3 brain scans and a million tests....She saw two of everything. Her eyes began crossing and her optic nerves were hemoraging from the swelling. They put her in the hospital for a week doing tests only to say....I don't know what is causing it! They asked if she ate paint or polar bear meat?? In Oklahoma??? After all the tests and the scans and EEG's over and over, thinking they missed something, the doc walked out of the room after telling me he was releasing her. I ran after him and said to him...You are a neurologist! You can't say she is going home and you don't know what is causing it! He said Mom, I'm sorry, there are some things even doctors don't know! That didn't help....I needed answers. After having 5 different doctors in 5 different fields, all devoted to her case and no answers, we went home with drugs..... They said her brain was acting as if it had a tumor, but it didn't have one....It was called a psuedo tumor cerebri.....It took one year for her brain to go back to normal after a year of prednisone. He said she was the youngest patient he had ever heard of to have that... The Doctor told me one year later, that if the prednisone had not worked, he was going to have to drill holes and remove parts of her skull to allow the brain to keep swelling.....God took care of it and I'm glad I never knew that at that time. There were days that I I threw myself on the floor like a baby and cried and cried....I had two small children to deal with at home too.....I didn't think I could get through it.....God knew the way....
He will get you each through this....in the meantime it is now 2008 and 11/12ths, you'd think they would have a zillion machines now and tests to show stuff wouldn't you??
I will continue to pray!!

Sherry sorry that you and your daughter and family had to go through all of that. We sometimes put doctors on a pedestal and think that they should know everything and be able to cure everything, but we all need to remember that doctors are human and only God knows everything. I was very frustrated and upset when I got the report that it was normal, I just knew that that was the problem, but it isn't. Hopefully she will be better today and tomorrow. I'm trying to keep positive thoughts. Lisa
