I bought an ugly little standard medical id bracelet off Ebay early on - it says:

Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass
No blind NG No morphine (Allergy)
Surgeon Name & Number

It's pretty standard and I wore it quite a bit the first year following surgery.  After that I only wear it when I am someplace new where people don't know me or my history.  For instance when I changed jobs over the summer, I wore it for a while until I got to know a few people and felt comfortable with who knew my history.

ALSO - I have my surgeon's information and the hospital number in my cell phone.  Since my cell phone is never far away from me, I figure if something happens the medical people are pretty good about checking cells for ICE (In Case of Emergency) entries in your contacts list.  They would have to stumble on the dr & hospital numbers too.

Just an idea!!

That would make sense to keep your numbers in your cell.  I have my dr.'s number in my cell phone.  I need to put ICE on it.  I have it on my DH now.
Thanks!

I'm a VSGer and I got a bracelet but don't really wear it.  I really should. In fact, I think I'll go put it on now.  Can't hellp me in an emergency if it's in my jewelry box, huh?  I just worried that medical people might try to put an NG tube down if I had an accident and it wouldn't "sound right" since it's little.

I have just ordered one for myself.  I've thought about it for months.  I was in a car accident a few weeks ago and was fortunate that my injuries were not too serious but there was an ambulance called for another person involved.  That got me to thinking about it again.  What if I had been unconscious and had to have emergency treatment...nobody would have known my condition.  I think it's important...especially now!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!
