Medical ID Bracelet
Do any of you have medical ID bracelets? I hadn't even thought of it until November's dinner and Cindy has one and I really liked it. I thought of asking for one for Christmas. One place has free shipping until Dec 16 (go figure!)
I just wanted your input!
BTW, my preop diet is going fine. I've lost 7 lbs since Sunday. I am SERIOUSLY in the bathroom about 6x's an hour. I'm gonna keep a tablet in there and start putting tally marks when I potty! I'm amazed! I know I'm losing lots of water, but I'm drinking lots too!
Ok! Thanks for your input on the bracelets!
Kim
I know lots of people who have them. I think it is a wonderful idea. I can see many reasons for having one that's for sure! I would love one. I have seen some very pretty ones and some just plain ones, but right now....everyone else is coming first. I am putting that on my list for next year though....

Hi, Kim.
Even though it's not as important for VSGers to have a medical ID bracelet, I have one. In my opinion, RNYers should wear one or have a medical alert card in his/her wallet, at all times.
I bought myself a gift, by getting a beautiful sterling silver bracelet, with a small medical alert charm. On the back, it says:
Mary Law
Sleeve
Gastrectomy
0 Blind NG
0 NSAIDS
H2O!!
There was a limit to number of lines and number of characters, so I had to get creative. Also, I realize that, with VSGers, NSAIDS can be given later on, but I figured this would cause medical personnel to be extra careful with me, if I could not speak for myself. I don't always have my wallet with me, if I'm not driving, so the bracelet is comforting to me. It cost me about $60, I think.

I shopped in the New Trends section, which was pricier. There are cheaper bracelets. Just shop the different "departments."
Also, some people get a dog tag and get it engraved. That's very inexpensive, but it just didn't appeal to me.
Update on what you decide to do, would you?
Blessings,
Mary

Gee, Kim. I hadn't thought of that. I'm not sure. I mean, your wrist will get somewhat smaller. Typically, that's not a "heavy" place, you know? Maybe put that your wrist is 7" instead of 7.5". If I remember correctly, they add one inch to whatever you put down, so that should be sufficient. If you get a bracelet with beads (or whatever) and a toggle, a jeweler could remove some of the beads, later on, if you needed it smaller. Hope this helps.
