After the growling and fussing over the store bought turkey, Mom found 39 cent a pound frozen turkeys and bought herself one for Christmas-but then she told me and I went and bought two....but I'm going to cook mine this week and make turkey packets for the rest of my natural life, dog broth for kibbles and a bunch of white meat packets for Patricia, the lady who is teaching me riding.

I just think it's funny as heck that me, the non-cook, is up to her eyeballs in turkeys, but it is a blessing too because Pat needs the help I think.  It seems like, for whatever reason, the universe wants me to cook right now, so I will comply. (It's also weird that it's meat and not fudge that I am to prepare.....maybe I've entered an alternate universe where you bring people meat instead of pans of fudge).

At least you're cooking for pleasure rather than for funerals or something.  I like knowing I'm doing something that people will enjoy eating.  Also, after you've cooked the turkey and taken the meat off the bone, you can roast the carcass with vegetables and then boil it and it makes really good broth.  I applaud you for giving what people need and not forcing on them what you think they should have.  donna

My Mom and her friends still make the peanut brittle and such and then when people bring over huge platefuls they moan about it later.....

I think you may be on to something!  Hmmm, food gifts that are healthy instead of a heart attack on a plate!  Enjoy cooking!
