My answer for me has been moderation. I monitor pretty closely what goes in my mouth. I don't cut it completely out though - oh no, gotta sometimes be naughty! . Sorry, probably not helpful...

I'm starting to have issues too. This crazy restricted diet is killing me!! Well, not really. It's saving my life but I really want a Sonic Cherry Coke, a hamburger, and something sweet! I do have to admit that the Weight Wise bars are REALLY delicious. My friend gave me a bite today at snack time and it was GOOD!! I need those rather than the Zone Perfect bars!
Did anyone else do the really restricted pre-op diet? How did you cope?

I stayed on the pre-op diet pretty well because I wanted a surgery date so badly. I guess I should apply the same logic to post-surgery diet too. I want to be close to goal extremely badly! I'm only 54 pounds away! I should want that more than I want chocolate!
You can do this! I can do this! That cherry coke is empty calories and does nothing for us! We are better than that hamburger! Let's fight back and win! Or lose in our case!

My first Dr.'s appt. was on 11-28-2007 and I had surgery on 12-26-2007 and I lost 45 lbs in that amount of time so that I could fit the surgery into my Christmas schedule. It was tough but if you want it bad enough you can do it. It really didn't seem to bad by listening to Jess (my dietician) and spreading my proteins out throughout the day and having one meal in the evening that I wasn't hungery all the time. Also to lose more weight I went on all liquids one week before surgery and then 2 weeks after. So needless to say my first bite of food post-op tasted wonderful. Congratulations on making a decision to change your life and best of luck on your journey. If I can answer any other question let me know.

Russell,
You really had a great weight loss!
What did you do to accomplish that?
Did Jess have you on a very restricted plan?
I"m going to my appts next week but was wondering what to expect.
Would like to be able to lose more than I am. I have 33 lbs. to lose and have about 10 off so far.
I'm trying to do the Adkins plan.
Nice chatting with you also. JUDY

I was a huge sweet eater and it took me about 3 weeks on the diet and my body just stopped craving it. I swear its funny about a week before surgery I was in 7-11 and out of habit i picked up a snickers bar I took a bite and I swear I wanted to vomit. I did eat the weight wise bars the cho and peanut butter was my favorite. I think that is what helped me the most. Then again my diet was not as bad I did eat many burgers with no bun when I was on the diet or went to taco bell and eat 3 tacos in a plate. Just have to be creative
ATKINS HAS A PEANUT BUTTER CUP THAT IS AWESOME AND IS ALMOST LIKE A REESE. THERE ARE 2 IN THE PACKAGE AND I CAN ONLY EAT 1 AND I PUT THE OTHER ONE IN THE FREEZER TIL IT HITS ME AGAIN. THE THING ABOUT THIS IS I HAVE FOUND THAT THEY ARE TOO SWEET FOR ME. BUT IN A PINCH AND DURING THAT "TIME" WHEN YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE SOME CHOCOLATE THEY ARE GREAT!!
You people are just too cool!
It's a little harder every day. I was told the 2nd or 3rd week is the hardest because you crave the old ways of eating. Just smelling the foods and such makes me salivate.
I'm still focused but my patience is thinning. Lower back pain can be a great motivator!
Thanks all for your support!
