How I let this happen, I have no idea!  I'm smarter than this.  But my sweet tooth is out of control.  It's been simmering since Halloween and I'm obsessed!

Help!  How do you avoid chocolate, etc???  I know I'm not physically hungery - it's all emotional head hunger!  What do I do???

HEY GLITTER, MY SUGGESTION IS TO MAKE SOMETHING WITH CHOCOLATE IN IT AND RUIN THE RECIPE BY ADDING SOMETHING THAT YOU DON'T LIKE SO WHEN YOU TASTE IT, IT REPULSES YOU SO BAD THAT YOU DON'T EVER WANT IT AGAIN.

I don't have any suggestions other than get it out of your house..off your desk and don't go in your break room.  This time of year it is especially hard since we have "food porn" everywhere we go.  It has started in my office with the clients sending us all kinds of goodies.  I asked them to keep it all in a cabinet in the breakroom instead of out on the table.  They have been really good about it for me.  I have to open a squeeky door to get into it and besides that I dump on it and I sure don't like that feeling!!!  YOU CAN DO IT!!!  You want the onderland worse than that piece of chocolate!!!  I JUST KNOW YOU DO!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I make due with sugar free chocolate...Get it at walmart, and it usually stops my cravings, mainly because it doesn't taste a whole lot like chocolate...

Ya know...I have a few things up mysleeve when I don't want to cook them AND I need it right away....

Chocolate fix needed???

HAVE NO FEAR....and stuff...

Tasty-kake (it's not my spelling..that is their brand name) has a CHOCOLATE-CHOCOLATE CHIP cake that is sold my netrition.com.....  (they make orange, coffeecake, and vanilla with chocolate chips too...  but I eat these becasue it's built for US....

That's right WLS patients....  2 net carbs per cake!  And if you eat one, it swell a little to help fill you up for one of those late night snack things....

So don't go around wishing for chocolate....buy these...try them...  you'll find they are awesome for the price and more than awesome for the healthy way to snack.....  I'm not missingany foods that I want, i just bend the rules with the products that I find....

I have a friend who sent me a whole box of Tastey Kake stuff...I hated him for that...I froze them all and only allowed myself 1 off and on.....They were awsome! They have sugar free pies too...Darn him!! Wait??? They have sugar free Hostess???????????? I never even look at the boxes anymore so I didn't know!!!!!! Oh well, I don't need those either!!

Kim, try making real hot chocolate with cocoa and splenda or add cocoa to plain yoget with splenda and vanilla....We are so used to syrups that we forget that we can use real cocoa to flavor things then add the SF sweetners. Maybe it will help some.....or at least enough to smash the craving for awhile.

Well, honey, when I went to my 9 month post-op follow-up and I mentioned the word head hunger, they shipped me straight to Dr. Keller! You have been battling the chocolate demons and head hunger in general, for a while now - if you have not had your three month post-op chat with Dr. K. (or even if you have), I would suggest you do. He is very, very helpful!

I know this makes no sense to most, but the way I "avoid" chocolate (and I think you know, I only do dark chocolate), is by not avoiding it! I have a small piece or two every week, and a small piece is all I can handle, and then I don't think about it anymore. I think what helps me is the fact that I don't look at it as a BAD thing. Chocolate happens, and this is for life, so you need to learn how to deal with it....((((((HUGS))))))

At times, a square of dark (70 percent) will push back the cravings....I started the sweet roll of decadence at T-giving so I got myself some dark chocolate and that seems to have calmed that down....only now, LOOK out salt/crunchy...but salts easier to quell-I just sprinkle some sea salt on some eggs and I'm good.

I'm kind of curious to see what this cold front does to my band-I ate a pretty hefty dinner (had a fish fry with my dad) anticipating being slammed shut tomorrow-but honestly, if I can eat I'll just work off the dinner and my preference is that I am able to eat.  What does that have to do with YOUR problem?  Well, if I can't eat, I'll be on shakes till it warms up a bit, and I'll be so sick of sweet that I won't have the issue-so maybe you could go on shakes for a day or two just to reset yourself.....

Another thing I've done is tell myself I can have whatever and how much protein I want, just no sweets, and after a day or two that simmers down the cravings....

This time of year is all mixed up with food and family and comfort eating-so it's just a given that it's going to be tough.  At this point-if I can wear the same clothes I walked into the season with on the way out-I'll be a happy camper....no loss required (and remember, I still want to zip up those Levi's..)

Another random thought I'll leave you with is maybe you need to eat more in general (just not sweets).  For the longest time I was a 1000 calorie a day gal-then for no reason that I could see, I became a 1200 calorie a day girl-and kept losing weight-it finally dawned on me it was because I was up and about more and burning it off.  So-check your calories and make sure it isn't a little tuna you are really craving...

My answer for me has been moderation.  I monitor pretty closely what goes in my mouth.  I don't cut it completely out though - oh no, gotta sometimes be naughty!   Sorry, probably not helpful...
