The Daily Plate
Today I started my liquid pre-op diet. I really like the daily plate and I'm going to enter everything online to have an accurate reading of my carbs, proteins and liquids.
I had some roman noodle broth. I don't know how to enter it online. I didn't have the noodles only the broth. Does anyone know the answer????
Any suggestions for the pre-op diet will be greatly appreciated too. So far today I've had 1/2c. Cottage cheese and broth.
My pre-op diet is 10 days liquids but we can have cottage cheese and yougart. So its not clear liquids. That is going to make it much easier.

Hi, Kim.
I enjoyed hot decaf. tea, sugar-free jello, and sugar-free popsicles. All count toward the fluids goal per day. Since you're not on a clear liquids-only diet (lucky duck), I suppose you can have creamed soups (yummy), strained.
As far as the Ramen Noodle Soup broth-only nutritional information, I tried but can't find it either. Since the seasoning packet, with which you make the soup, is merely that--seasoning, I would assume you could use the nutritional info. from any beef broth, chicken broth, etc. I'd use the canned information, as that will give you a more accurate sodium count.
I'm so excited for you!
Blessings,
Mary

Thanks Mary! I can have unlimited amounts of the broth and my nutritionist even mentioned that we can have the roman noodle broth. I guess I'll just count it towards my liquid. I'll have 2 or 3 packets of it a day. I will get some unflavored protein to put in it since I like the broth so well that will help me out before and after!
I'm very blessed because my DH started this diet with me. He's not doing liquids but he is doing a diet he can stick to so he can support me. He's even been helping me out around the house! (He's not usually home on Saturdays so I usually do the housework myself) I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful hubby!
And great friends!
I'm blessed with all this but let me tell you what I found out TODAY!!! I went to the grocery store and its like sending an alcoholic into a bar! OMGsh...and I'm not even hungry yet. But I'm telling you what the cookies, and muffins and steak...I passed them all by! I'm working on this for my whole family so we won't be having it in our home which will really help me out a lot! I think DH got a new chore too...Grocery shopping! LOL!
Thanks for your help!

Hi, Kim.
It sounds like you're doing fine, and I'm so glad. I think being on a liquids diet before my surgery would have helped me after surgery, because my head hunger was terrible! I understand what you mean about the sights and smells of the grocery store. For me, it was the Thanksgiving Dinner!
I love that your husband is helping and participating. My husband has been the same way, and I do so appreciate and love him for it. We are blessed.
Keep up the good work.
Blessings,
Mary

Hi Kim-
I love the daily plate. It is great... I wish I could tell you how to enter that, I would just do the best you can and get it as close to it as you can.
I do have a question for you (or anyone else). Does everyone have to have a liquid pre-op diet? I just went to diet class and she didn't mention anything about that.
Good luck on your journey. It will be great!

Hi! I got handouts at my nutrition class. Here is the website for my diet.... http://www.okbariatrics.com/TenDaystoSuccessPreopDiet.pdf
You will have to check with your individual dr. to see what he recommends. I know they can vary.
I am pretty lucky that I can have things besides clear liquids. Its going ok today. I'm a little hungry. I guess having the virus I had might have helped me a little because I still don't have my full appitite back. That was one BAD virus though.
Hope I helped a little!

Hi.
Dr. Walton just had me on a clear liquid diet for 24 hours, before my surgery. I chose to do that for an additional day, because I wanted to be certain I was all cleaned out. I'm wondering if that's why I did not have any nausea after surgery.
Blessings,
Mary
