I do have my limits

After 13 years of never doing such a thing, my cat found a litter of field mice in the garage and brought some in left them on the kitchen floor-alive.  But they were blind and didn't move quickly and I was like OK_it's natures way......  And I thought that was that.  But she just brought another one in, it's probably a baby from the same litter, but it's eyes are opened and faster than either of us.  I'm not afraid of them, but I don't want them running loose in my house, so I am going to have to break down and go buy some traps (and some fake rabbit fur mice for the cat).

What's bizarre is I bop mice on the head all the time to feed the snakes-no problems but those are "feeder mice".....the little grey ones are wild creatures and I feel guilty as heck about killing them, but not guilty enough to catch them live and try to raise them.

I'd whip out the pink BB gun, but I'm afraid I'd shoot the cat by mistake.

I know what you mean.  Years ago I ended up with a full grown mouse in the house.  My stupid, pampered cats had no idea what they were supposed to do!  When the mouse ran out of sight they sat back down and fell asleep.  So I kept poking at the stupid mouse with a yard stick to keep it in front of the cats so they would kill it.  I am sure we looked like a bunch of Keystone Cops!  I can't remember for certain but I think they finally killed it and I took it to the dumpster.  Stupid indoor cats!  Worthless beasts that know cat food comes from a cat chow feeder.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I just can't believe that after all these years she's decided to play with mice and bring them IN.  Crazy old thing.

My poor daughter couldn't stand to kill a mouse, so she trapped it in a trashcan and took it out on the streets of New York to let it loose.  Later she felt guilty for letting it go in the COLD !!!  ARG !!!   I like the traps and then I use the fireplace scooper to pick it up and put it in the trash, trap and all.  Nobody said I wasn't a chicken!

Those wooden traps scare the bloody crap out of me, and I don't like sticky traps because it's a cruel death....and I've never caught a thing in a live trap....and I won't do poison.....Last night I put on a heavy glove and chased the thing around the house till it got away (the cat was delighted I joined in the game).

Ok, I'm letting my freak flag fly-if I can catch the little ones-I'll feed them to the snakes, but snapping their necks in a trap bothers me.  One death is useful and feeds another, the other just says the animals is a nuisance (and I'm not a Buddhist, but I do admire some of their thinking)......but I cannot live in harmony with a mouse in my house.  It must GO.

In all fairness to the cat-she did finally catch, destroy and present the mouse to me (which is only fair because SHE brought it in.)  So, the cat is out of the doghouse, for now.

I've decided the reluctance to kill comes from the fact that they are just so little and it seems so mean.
