I'm very weak!!
Well, I left the hospital approx. 48 hours ago. I'm able to get up and down out of a chair with no problem. I'm still walking slower than normal, and all I want to do is sleep. To make sure I get my fluids in I even get up in the middle of the night and make myself drink 1/2 bottle water and 2 popscicles. I'm not running a fever. Thank you God. But, I just don't feel good. When will this pass??
Talk to you soon,
Amber
It may take several weeks to feel more like yourself. Everyone is different. Getting in your fluid is huge and will help you so much! Sleeping is good, too, and making sure you're walking (inside the house is fine) some every hour that you are not asleep.
If you are feeling weak, you may need more protein. Are you drinking any protein shakes? You don't have to drink the whole thing at one sitting--over several hours is fine. Also, if you've made beef or chicken broth from the meat, that will be more protein-rich.
It took me a good week to feel "renewed." However, I felt so much better after surgery than I had before, because I'd been in bad shape for so long. If you had fewer obesity-related issues prior to surgery, you may see all of this as worse than how you felt before surgery.
It will happen for you; just give yourself time.
Blessings,

Amber, when I had surgery it took me about 2 weeks to feel normal again. When I was very weak I drank part of an Atkins Advantage chocolate protein shake, it was very thick so little sips, but it did help a lot. You will be feeling better quicker than you think, and before you know it you will be dropping weight quickly. Good Luck. Lisa

Sleeping a lot after any surgery is pretty par for the course-and abdominal surgery, even laproscopic is going to take awhile to mend. Under all the flab are some muscles you probably didn't know you had. Sometimes we focus so hard on the process and the weight loss we tend to forget it IS surgery, and recovery rules apply. My recovery period was pretty uneventful, but there still WAS a recovery period.
I was able to fly home two days after surgery, but I wasn't doing laps around the airport, and a month later I flew to Florida, but it was a laid back vacation.....a bike ride around the block or short trip to the beach was fun, but tiring.
I know lots of people list all the fabulous things they did a short time out, but they sometimes forget to mention it's still tiring.....You've just had surgery and you are still heavy-but this time next year, OMIGOSH-the difference....so be kind to yourself now, and know it's all going to get even better than you can imagine.
