I hope some day to end up with a horse of my own, but every time I look I become a victim of my own impulse to rescue-and I don't have the ability to deal with a "troubled" horse. I've sort of stopped looking, because often the best things come to you when you just let them.
My instructor is an elderly person who has a wealth of knowledge (a published author even) and she is more than happy to let me brush and fuss after the lesson-so I get what I want (to play with horses) and she gets company and a little help with her horses. Bonus points-she's also a dog person (breeds foxhounds) so we are both delighted to make each other acquaintance and we both decided that the other person was a gift from above.
