I went to the pharmacy to pick up my $40 nausea pill, and Cheryl, my patient care advocate didn't fax the script over.  Just great! I called and left her a message, and if I don't hear from her tomorrow, because I am unsure if Weight Wise is open or not, then do you think I should call and burden Dr. Broussard with these. What should I do? Should I not worry about the pill, advice please!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Amber

Amber:

Sorry they didn't get your script called in.  You can call the hospital number and it will roll over to the nurses desk.  They have direct contact with the surgeons and will be able to get the script called in.  NEVER feel like you are a burden to these surgeons!  They WANT to know what is going on and if you have a need or concern.

The nurses are all well versed in pre and post op issues and are a great asset to the practice!  Most of the nurses have had WLS or have been involved so they have practical experience in the things that come up with WLS patients.  I have actually known Dr B to get upset if you don't call him about a concern!  Dr W as well!!

Call!!  Don't wait until the last minute - there is usually a seminar on Saturday's so one of the surgeons will be available - not always the advocates though.

Good Luck....it is a great ride and an awesome journey!!!

I told my anesthesiologist that I have a tendency to upchuck following anesthesia, and he put something in my IV which seemed to work. It'll all go great!

Same here.  I didn't have any RX before hand they just put something in my IV and gave me a patch behind my ear.  I would call them.  You are not a burden and they are the ones that didn't get your RX faxed over so ...yeah..call them!

I have always gotten sick after coming out of anethesia, but I didn't fill my pill script... and I didn't get sick. They put a little nausea sticker behind your ear before your surgery and you get a script for nausea when you leave the hospital. I still haven't got sick. ~Stacy

I'm in Caldwell at my inlaws. It's only about 2 hours away. Candee is still in Edmond. I'm trying to take it easy before I head back to work Monday. ~Stacy

Amber, don't sweat this.  I got my pill and took it the morning of surgery.  However, I told the Pre-Op nurse when she asked the last time I'd had anything to eat or drink.  She said it really didn't matter.  Evidently, Dr. B has only been prescribing that medicine in recent months.  They will put an anti-nausea patch behind your ear (which stays on for 3 days) and also put medicine into your IV.  The pill is just another layer of protection.  If you can get them to call it in for you - great.  If you can't get somebody on the phone - let it slide.  You'll be fine without it.
