5 days away and not feeling well!

Ugh!! I'm 5 days away from having surgery. I did my pre-op appointment today, and forgot to ask Dr. Broussard, if I could take antibiotics up until the day I have surgery. My kids all have strep throat and are on meds.

Oh course, it doesn't help that I'm a nervous wreck. Everything became all to real to me, signing all the papers of what could happen and not to mention the $12,500 check.

Oh dear, my throat is soar and I'm a bit congested! What should I do? Does anyone know if you can be on antibiotics leading up to surgery. Thanks!!

Amber

Hi Amber!  Wow, its going to be here before you know it!  I know you are so excited!  I hope you feel better.  Surely the antibiotics will help you feel better in a day or so.  I don't have an answer to your question..but I wanted to wish you luck!
Happy Thanksgiving also!
Hugs
Kim

Amber, find out from the doc tomorrow and try not to worry.  If you have to pu**** out for a week or so, it isn't the end of the world.....it WILL happen and all will be well.

Hi, Amber.
Unless the doctor has a different take on this, it shouldn't be a problem to be on antibiotics up until the day before surgery. You won't be allowed to take anything the day of surgery. Also, as far as I know, I'm pretty sure you're given antibiotics in your IV in the hospital, to prevent infection.
You need to give Dr. B. a call tomorrow, though, and see what he says. Try to stay positive, and speak health, rather than sickness. It can make a difference.
Blessings,
Mary

Amber,

If you gotta wait, then it won't be for long.

As for being nervous.....nothing will change the outcome of your actions except if you tell him the surgery is off.....so nearly everything rests in your hands.  There's no reason to be nervous to gaining access to the skinny girl you always wanted to be.

After you have the surgery, you'll also be a bit nervous and ask yourself "why did I do this?"   And then you'll come to the realization that you not only WANTED to do this procedure, but you NEEDED to do it.  This is something nearly all of us feel afterwards.

So be strong, stop worrying about the inevitable things that will happen anyway.  Say a little prayer to give thanks that you have this incredible opportunity and get to feeling better so you can meet that "new you" just around the corner....

I'm sure you'll be fine in time for your scheduled date but I agree with everyone tht you should make a call to Dr. Broussard first thing today.  You are such a beautiful young lady and just imagine how much healthier you're going to be.  I wish I could have had this opportunity when I was your age and my kids were young.  I wish you all the best and the journey is so awesome and so worth it all....even if you have to put it off a few days.  We're getting you place all ready for you on the "Looser's Bench"!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I was a nervous wreck too!  It will be okay even if it has to be delayed.  My surgery was delayed twice and I was very upset so I know how it feels, but in the end you will still be a major loser just like us!!  Hang in there and hopefully there will be no delay!

Update....I called this morning and Cheryl (my patient advocate) didn't think that being on antibiotics would be any problem, but told me that if I don't get a call from Dr. B, then continue taking them up until surgery. Thanks everyone!
