No ABGs!!!!! :)

Okay, I know you guys are probably already getting tired of me posting every little detail about this whole process, but I went and had my labs, EKG, echocardiogram, stress test, chest x-ray today.  And my fear of having to have the ABGs was for nothing! I didn't have to have them.  I was so happy!!!! I just remember how painful those were to my sister, my mom when she had to have them, and my hubby said they were painful too.  Oddly, I was more fearful of those than having surgery!

It seems things are progressing nicely though.  I still have my psych eval coming up on the 5th.  The surgeon appointment on the 9th and my sleep study on the 17th.   So, I don't have a lot more to do, but am getting so darned excited!! :)

Now, my newest worry is if I will be able to taste and smell the anesthesia.  I have had several surgeries as a child and I know on two occasions, the IV anesthesia they gave me I could taste and smell it.  It just was not pleasant.

Anyway, I am doing the happy dance for now that those tests are out of the way.  I will pray my insurance will approve me.  Thank you all for being here and listening.  You all have been so helpful in my "worry" times.

Thank you!! HUGS,
Paulette

Paulette, relax sweetie!  The anesthesia is a big nothing!  Who cares if you smell or taste it for a second when the big prize is a thin, healthy body?  Small price to pay.  I acutally remember pretty much nothing after they wheeled me into the OR except that is was cold, then I woke up in recovery.

Glad you didn't have to have the ABGs!  The rest of the process should be much easier.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Thank you all so, so much!  It's strange when I decided to do all of this, I only thought of making myself healthier for my husband and son, and myself!  I never really thought about the valuable people who are on this board who are going through the same things, the friendships that are actually made through all of this.  I am just amazed at all of it.  I am so happy to have this board and all of you to share all of this with.

My husband is super supportive, as are my other family members I have informed, but there is so much more by sharing with you all.  :)

Thank you for being here! :)

It only gets better. Gornichec is a very direct surgeon. He knows how to make people relax around him while still cutting through the bull. Kim is just as direct. Use them, and all their staff. I have been through a plethora of tests ordered by them. I have NEVER used so many insurance benefits in my life. Kim told my wife and I that she knew exactly how to get me approved, and I now believe her. She knows the ins/outs of the insurance game very well. let her tackle them for you. All you have to do is exactly what they tell you to do and they will make it happen.

You are lucky to be getting to complete them directly in their office, if I understand you correctly. All those tests I had run, i got plenty of exercise traipsing around the hospital there and several times ending up someplaces where i shouldn't have been...but thats a different story.

I was so very thankful to know I could complete most of the testing in their office.  Kim told me last Friday they started doing this about a month ago. The only thing that I didn't have to do in the office was a chest x-ray and the labs.  I also have a large binder notebook with all kinds of things in it.  I told her I was really impressed with it.  She said it took them over 6 months to get it just right.  So, far I really like everyone I have met.

I just found out without warning that my company is changing insurance on December 16, which has me worried now.  My sleep study is scheduled on the 17th!  So,I am not even sure now what is going to happen with that if I don't get a surgery date until January sometime.  I guess I will write Kim and let her know and maybe she can tell me what I need to do.

Thank you all bunches :)

LaDetra, I am so sorry you had to have those awful things.  I know those are painful even though I haven't had them.  I wouldn't wish those on my worst enemy.  I can usually take having my blood drawn, but I sure didn't want them to jab an artery for blood.

Happy Thanksgiving to you! :)
