Gah, Stupid People
OK, so here's a little bit of back story...I go to school at East Central in Ada, which is going into it's Centennial year in 2009. The entire time ECU has been in operation, it's had fewer than 7 presidents. We recently hired a new president to assume the position after our previous president retired after 15 years in the position. This was 2.5 years ago.
Zoom forward to now, Dr. Rafes, our president, has done some amazing things for the campus, like building a new fine arts building, and adding new emergency poles outside each building, just in case. He's been talking about plans to redo out student center and build a newer and better gym. Which I'm all for.
And we find out today, that he has taken a new position as President of West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Whoopee...
Now we are back at square one when it comes to rebuilding our campus, and all the plans for the new gym and wellness center etc, are put on hold indefinately...No telling what the new president will want to do with everything now, but I'm dreading it because every single president that comes to the school seems to want to do only one thing...take away student parking to build some new part of campus. I'm all for new campus stuff, but soon there are only going to be 3 parking lots, which fit about 100 cars between them all, and with 4500 students, 75% of which commute to campus, that is going to make it harder than ever to find a parking space... GRRRRRRR...why can't people just be happy where they are, especially when they are getting paid more than anyone else in the county, with a free house and meals. I don't get it.
